The bible doesn't help me out much.
I don't see how it makes any sense.
How scientific, they added up people's ages!

I really hope some of these answers are kidding.
I'm pretty sure they would have mentioned something about noah taking 2 brontasauruses onto the ark.

It is believed we are just over 6,000 years. Dinosaurs are stated in the bible referred to as the "Behemoth" with a tail the size of a cedar. This could be a long answer but I will try and summarize....
Pre flood people lived to be as old as 900 years due to the purity of the earth and the water layer that was above the earth approx 15 miles that was beneficial to life....well with things living for that long of a time and lizards are one of the few animals that grows its entire life...... you get some pretty big Lizards! However they start out small Dino eggs which are typically the size of a football. Mose's was 600 years old when he built the Ark and he knew he did not have to take a big one! He took baby giraffe's, elephant's and yes dinosaurs. If you look through history post flood the number of story's regarding dragon's and the such is extensive these would have been your dino's except they where named dino's in the mid 1800's so they did not call them dino's. Most dino's have been killed off by humans and some still live today though very rarely seen. All the fossils came from the flood!

Many who take the bible literally are forced to accept the earth as being only 6000 years old. This number comes about in two ways--first, tracking the all the births recorded in scripture since Adam, and noting ages, makes estimates, etc. Thus, people have come up with varying figures. The other piece worked into this schema is usually some prophecy which looks to a 7000 year plan--and there are different ways various groups work with this--some feel the 6,000 is about up and then there will be a 1,000 year rule of peace--this is called millennialism.
As you point out, the dinosaurs, as well as carbon dating, geology and all sorts of things don't fit into this model.
Many other Christians do not take the Bible literally. It IS possible to take the Bible seriously, but not necessarily literally.
So there are a good number of Christians who are able to accept scientific evidence of the very old age of earth fossils while at the same time use the Bible for spiritual and religious matters.

The 4004 BC was figured hundreds of years ago by a dude named Usher. Others have followed the principles he set down and come up with widely divergent numbers.
Many people base arguments on Usher's numbers, but they are not valid or proper exegesis and are therefore meaningless.
Who knows... did God create the world "old" with fossils already buried in it and the universe old with light already seeming to have traveled millions of millennia? Both of these are POSSIBLE. The Bible wasn't written as a science or history text and such uses of it are inherently invalid.

From geneologies in the Bible. And scientific evidence, such as the amount of dust on the moon, and fossil layers. Dinosaurs were probably destroyed in the flood, or after the flood when the world's climate changed.

it is 6000 yaers old they do this by following the geneology given to us in the bible.
now dinos were around since the first animals and they ate them but they were killed by the humans because they were such a big threat and so dangerous. Then they were compressed to fossils during the flood( many dinos have been found with skin still attached and other human made objects have been found fossilized.

Uhm 12000? I had heard 6500 or so...
Anyway this number was calculated based on the length of rules of the kings of Israel, and the ages of the sons and grandsons etc of Adam(ie Methuselah et all.).
Dinosaurs supposedly did not survive the Great Flood.

Dinosaurs didn't really exist. It's all part of a big evolution conspiracy. All those dinosaur bones that you see in museums were planted by pro-evolution scientists to try and prove the bible wrong.

I don't know how old the earth is, when Adam and Eve were created, God told them to repopulate the earth. This indicates that it was occupied before them. Dinosaurs must have lived before Adam and Eve were created.

1. By adding up all the "begats" (Adam begat Cain & Abel, etc) and their ages.
2. They don't. The Bible doesn't mention them, therefore, they cannot have existed.
