I was just accused of being arrogant... However I like to think of myself as confident. What is the difference between the two?

Arrogance is a hateful emotion that everyone dislikes. It is often seen as ignorance. Instead of seeing you as having simple confidence or ambition others may see you as egotistical or superior. Confidence, on the other hand, is a wonderful concept to have. It is humble in realizing there's always room for improvement.

Confidence is quiet - it doesn't require that other people notice your actions. It is being at home in your skin and not being afraid to be who you are. Confidence is radiated; other people pick up on it.

Arrogance is loud and brash - it requires that people notice ("hey! look at me!") for you to feel good about yourself. It reveals a lack of confidence in who you are. Arrogance is the secret fear that who you are is not good enough.

It is a problem. Many people don't understand when somebody knows his level in something.

Usually this are simple minded persons. If a person does call you arrogant means that he don't question your power in this matter, but don't like the way how you show/handle it. Whatever you do, you will do it wrong in the eyes of this person.

I give an example:
I am a very good Chessplayer. I played International tournaments. If somebody on the street ask me to play and I don't want to play because I know that it will be boring for me then I answer usually "I am sorry, but I am not in the mood.". The problem is that I can't answer this when I play against somebody else. Then what to answer? "Sorry, You are to weak"? Whatever I answer is then the wrong answer. And if I play with him then somebody else cmes to me nd says "You are really arrogant. You play with this weak player and destroy him. You are worse then others. You pick on this person." There exist situations in which you can be nothing else as protect yourself. And then you are not arrogant.

Ignore this persons comment and it will be different if he sees that you don't act like an arrogant person.

And remember this:
A person who tells you that you are arrogant is arrogant himself/herself, because he judges you. This is arrogance to judge somebody in this way ...

Usually females are using this words (You are arrogant) more as males. Males have usually other ways to tell you this. uncomfortable.

Arrogance is just confidence without considering the feelings of others around you. You make people feel uncomfortable and/or ignored by you. Having confidence shows a strong belief in yourself while not making others feel ignored or insufficient (then making them feel jealous or thinking ill of you).

i imagine the version between a positive guy and an boastful guy is that a positive guy can sit down decrease back and let somebody else take the lead while the boastful guy assumes some thing is purely no longer maximum ideal except he does it his way. it isn't any longer purely the statements that are made, it is the perfect frame of mind he takes surrounding some thing. Any guy can walk as a lot because the plate in baseball and hit a homerun; the positive guy ought to run the bases, slap fingers including his crew friends and say thanks even as congratulated even as the boastful guy will trot around the bases hooting and hollering and mocking the different crew even as putting forward "who's the guy?" many times. a authentic guy likely doesn't pick to artwork too not basic to circumvent searching boastful, his movements ought to communicate for him.

Confidence is sexy.. Arrogance can be sexy, then sickening. :P j/k

In all serious, though... it's all how a person takes it, look at these movie heart throbs women fall for... Rhett Butler and Han Solo.... Treating the girl with respect and knowing you can please is a huge difference from just knowing you can take adavantage of her.

When you appear to only care about yourself and your own well being opposed to others and flaunt it like you're proud of it, then you crossed from confident to arrogant.

Arrogant people are no fun.
