I look at it this way... As long as the gays have freedom to do and say whatever they want... then so should the Christians.
If the athiests or the muslims or the people that are Bible bashers get to open their mouths.. Then Christians should be able to open their mouths as well.
Open-minded hippies are so hypocritical. They think that it's ok for our kids to be taught Darwinism.. or to be taught Scientology as a religion. But hey! add God in there and they go berserk.
Idiots.

They do NOT tell people who or where they can worship. If some people were able to treat their religion as sacred and private and hold it to that height there would be no problem. The problem comes in when people demand that it has to be a group thing in a non church, family, or other religious group setting and THEIR religion be the priority.
If you want it so ingrained in a school, then GO TO or send your kids to a religious school! And if you don't for the cost, then your religious groups and religious community needs to address that and find ways to create religious schools that are cost affective and not taking so much money from it's people.
By the way, the ACLU fights to protect MANY different rights of different forms. Including the rights of women, but I'm sure you'd be glad to lose that.

Band the ACLU, humorous. The term is "ban." And the ACLU doesn't tell the government or Christians what they can do and who they can talk to unless it interferes with the rights of other citizens. The "awful" ACLU is backing the church that has been banned from protesting at soldier's funerals. They don't care about the situation, it's a matter of supporting human rights.

The ACLU has a Band? Can I join?
The ACLU ROCKS!!!
The ACLU doesn't care who you worship or where, they don't even care if you do it in school, so long as your not pestering other people or getting the school to sponsor it. That's all. That's bad? Would you like it if the little atheist kids pressured you to play their way? Well, the aclu will protect you from that too, so shut the he11 up!

OK you are protected by the first Amendment (or any amandment) whether you are supported by the government or not.
Now the ACLU works for anyone who's constitutional rights are being violated. They have stood up for Christians in cases where Churches, and private individuals, have been not allowed to practice. they have helped cases of freedom of speech no matter what the opinion being expressed.
Now you see a lot of school cases as since public schools are government supported. They should not favor any religion over any other. (Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion) Having public prayer and "God" in school is promoting one religion. However you can't prevent anyone from practicing their religion. (or prohibiting the free exercise thereof) So if someone want to say their prayers, wear their crucifixes (or pentagrams) than that is protected as well.
If you want your child to learn Christianity in school send them to a private religious school.

They may seem nutty at times but the ACLU performs a vital function in society.... they keep right-wing Christian fundamentalists (not unlike yourself) from running amok and turning America into a theocracy. There can be no freedom OF religion without freedom FROM religion!! I don't want the public schools that I support with my tax dollars to teach children about religion or God. We have churches for that. Also I don't want to see the frikkin' ten commandments displayed in ANY courthouse anywhere in America. And I'm not alone. So sit down and shut up!

I'm American, but not Christian. I don't like having it forced on me like some folks like to do. The last thing I'd want is for some school to teach my kids about the bible... or any religion, even my own.
If the Bible has to be taught in PUBLIC school, then so should Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc. as we all make up America. If that's not acceptable to people who don't agree with the ACLU's stance, then let's solve the problem by not showing favor to any religion.

I do think it is time we made a stand for our rights as Christians, yes.
Here is the full text of the First Amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
The First Amendment gaurantees that Congress may make NO LAW respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the FREE EXERCISE thereof. That means that I may worship God when and where I please, without any governmental restraints. I have the right to FREE SPEECH...that means I may speak out about my God when and where I please, and nobody has the right to pull my microphone.
Those are my rights according to the Constitution. Now, what are my responsibilities before God?

The ACLU, generally, attempts to help keep people free from other people's attempts at oppression. Thus they fight for bans against government sponsored state religion (you know, that stuff they wrote about in the darn Bill of Rights) and other such things.
Remember, you have the right to follow your religion, as long as it doesn't infringe on my right to live without feeling threatened.

The ACLU is protecting those who are not Christians. This is a free society, you may speak of Jesus and God as a citizen at any given moment, that is your right.
BUT, you cannot force someone to sit and listen as a member of the government or school official. That's not just the fair thing to do, it's the Biblical thing to do.
Romans 14:14-16 I know, and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean of itself; except to him who reckons anything to be unclean, to that man it is unclean. For if on account of meat thy brother is grieved, thou walkest no longer according to love. Destroy not him with thy meat for whom Christ has died. Let not then your good be evil spoken of
Given the above verse, as a Christian you are obligated by Jesus Himself to walk according to love .... so do not force your belief on others.
