I surely also needs to say i does no longer have ever advised my mum and dad to close up yet in answer on your question, I used to experience a similar even as i turned right into a young person yet am now a mom. All i visit claim is - wait till you're saying it on your own children becuase that is guarenteed to ensue and then you'll understand.

It's extremely frustrating when you're a kid but you'll understand when you get older and have your own kids. They know that whatever it is, is not good for them but they are old enough to do it anyway, but they want to save you from making the same mistakes they did.

If they can teach you something that will save you a lot of pain and aggravation, they will. Even if they made the mistake of doing it themselves.

Say to them, if you don't want me to do it, then why do you? Actions speak louder than words.

Us parents are awfully human. I told my kids something yesterday and when they caught me doing the same thing i told them not to, I had to concede and allow them to do it. I was having a "no-screens" day, no puter, no TV and just find something else to do. I was online doing my bills and they called me on it. Well, parents are only human after all!

"do as I say and not as I do."

Yes, I hate hypocrisy and have tried to teach my son by example, because the above approach never works.

Master Yoda Says: some things good for some, but not good for others, other things good for all, but many things not good for no one. One day you will be in charge and hypocrite you may be.

I agree with the second answer.

When you live on your own, and support yourself, then you can do whatever you want.
