This goes without saying, see a doctor! A fever that persists more than THREE DAYS you need to see a doctor.

My kids had the same problem, get high fever for no apparent reason. Doctors just prescribe fever medical and nothing else. Kids did not have any infection though this may develop so need to see doctor for antibiotics - usually will prescribe Tamiful but monitor the intake of this cos if taken more than once course, your kid may develop rashes.

Keep the fever under control though. Paracetamol may not be strong enough so consider Nurofen and have subpositories on standby in case temperature goes way above 38C. A good sign after taking fever medicine is that kid should be sweating - sign of fever breaking.

Get kid to eat more fruits and veg like apples, oranges, broccoli etc.. We have been juicing 3 apples and 3 carrots for kids to drink to boost their immune system too. Obviously give the kids chewable multi-vitamin tablets too (ocean or seven seas brand) as well as drinking more water. We give our kids alkaline water which has an anti-oxidant effect (email for more info). Also rice is suppose to be bad for fevers ?!?!? Anyway we occasionally have macaroni, spaghetti or cottage pie. For snacking, you may want to give them dried cranberries as this is a good source of anti-oxidant too. Some chocolate helps in the healing process.

Keep away from public aircon places as there are lots of bacteria flying around which doesn't help. But go to parks for fresh air and light exercise and fun which helps in total well-being.

If fever still persist go to see doctor again. There could be other sinister causes like urinary tract infection which are not commonly diagnosed but symptoms are going to toilet often but only passing a little at a time. Take note of anything different about your kid and report to doctor e.g. sluggishness, vomitting, body pains, rashes, runny nose, coughing, abnormal breathing at night etc..

The FIRST thing you need to do is take that child to a doctor. A fever for a week? Perhaps you should head for the emergency room right now. But if you have already seen a doctor, or you just prefer home remedies...

1. Pray
2. half cup of night quil
3. 1 asprine
4. Ice pack
5. Alot of orange juice and pancakes with bacon.
6. Stop listening to us posters and take that kid to a REAL doctor!

The moment, a child had a fever you should bring him to a doctor for treatment. You should not give the child any medication unless you are a doctor.

The child needs to be seen by a doctor so that a culture can be obtained and the child put on the right antibiotic.

if your child is having fever for more than 1wk, its best to bring him or her to see a doctor.

anyway if the child is having fever besides giving him medicine, you can do these:

if the temperature is below 38.0 you can give him a cold compress. get some towel, wet with tap water (never use cold icy water) and apply it on the forehead, armpits, groin.

if the temperature is above 38.0, you can sponge your child. and PLEACE USE TAP WATER. sponge your child for about 10mins and stop when he is shivering. and remember to off the fan or aircon before sponging him. just sponge him as per normal but pay more attention to the areas i've mentioned above.
