You are building a strong rapport with your child because of the skin to skin contact. The child is likely to become more affectionate than if he/she was just bottle fed. This also helps raise the child's IQ. Socio-economic class has no impact on breast milk. A baby being breast-fed by a poor mother is more likely to be more developmentally advanced than a baby being bottle fed by a rich mother. You're helping the child build up a strong immune system as well. It is more convenient; no bottles to sanitize, and no water to boil. It's easier to get ready to go out because you have one less thing to take with you (or make that 2: bottles with formula and ice packs). Can take your breast milk anywhere. Don't have to worry about temperature of the milk even on hot days. It's always the right temperature for babies. Babies can live on breast milk for 6 months without having any solid foods.

The bonding is bull shiza, I felt more bonded to my daughter once we beagan bottle feeding at 6 months. Don't generalize, former poster. those studies are UNPROVEN!! get a life.

BTW, Mrs Hunter: Your baby is hellatiously ugly. Hope all that boob gave hime some affection, he looks two kinds of afflicted. Go on try and hate on my princess, she is a doll baby...a formula fed doll baby who I don't have to make other people feel bad about so far as my choice. Your words make you an ugly woman. Just like your spawn.

Before you hate too hard, I did breastfeed fro 6 months, 2 weeks and 3 days, so kiss my @ss. You are no better than me, and neither is your sewer rat spawn.

When you breastfeed the child uses your immunities and nutrients for 6 months, after that it can still use the nutrients but it has a strong enough immune system for itself, so really, formula is just as good after 6 months.

But its true that being close to your child helps if at all possible.

Not having to try and heat water for formula in the middle of the night. Not having to carry formula supplies everywhere you go. Less stinky diapers (depending on what mommy ate that day). Giving the infant a jumpstart of building up his/her immune system. And if your lazy like me, curling around the little one as you sleep and just having to roll over for feedings instead of climbing out of bed at 2a.m.

Breast milk helps keep your baby healthier because there are certain nutrients in it that make their immune systems stronger...also I love spending the time feeding my daughter its an experience I wouldn't trade for the world...and its nice to not have to get up at all hours to heat up bottles!!

My daughter was born three months premature, when I was able to pump to give her breast milk she had better days, when I couldn't her bowls would back up and she couldn't eat until the formula digested which took usually two days. and her feeding amounts were less than an ounce, like 15cc's.

So basically it is alot easier for a baby to digest!
