I coach softball during the summer, and today one of the girls fathers told me that he was an illegal immigrant living here for 4 years, and he got citizenship merely 3 months ago. I know for a fact that he's been a Fort Worth police officer for 2 years. How the **** does an illegal immigrant become a cop? & how do you feel about that?

first either you or he was lying, second I really could care less if an illegal immigrant is a cop or not. It's a crappy job so if he can do it effectively more power to him

Stop whinny, everyone on here knows you're a liar.

Actually it doesn't shock my that much. I live in deep south Texas and honey there is so much sh*t going on down here you wouldn't believe it. The people of this country are blind and the government is lying to them all. I think Perry and Bush should be forced to live in Laredo for 6 months, then maybe they would get a better picture of what is going on.
Did you know that Illegal immigrants are and have been registering their children in our schools for years (oh they say it isn't possible, BULL) My children's education is suffering because there are only a few English only classes at their Elementary campus, everything is Bilingual, and with all State mandated tests that are "IN ENGLISH" and used to test the child's proficiency with the English language through reading, how can these non-English speaking children be passed up to the next grade level if they cannot read or speak English. If my children couldn't do the basics they sure wouldn't pass! OK I'm going to stop because I'm rambling. Excellent question and observation! PS heres a good one for you,,,It was Illegal aliens who built the Border Patrol Training Facility!!!!!! Good huh?

He may not have been illegal, that is just hearsay. You have to be a permanent resident for 5 years before you get citizenship, so likely the person who told you this didn't know what they were talking about. Citizenship or permanent residency is a requirement to be a government employee, and they do extensive checking. Likely, you were a victim of gossip. The poster above me raises some accurate and good points though, so who is to say( i have had many of the same experiences).

There has to be more to it than that and why would he just volunteer this info to you?
I suppose if he was here on a visa maybe? but with how our post 9/11 background checks are for almost any job I feel there must be more to this he didn't tell you.

I don't think you are a liar and it is good you are questioning things and not just sitting back and letting things happen like some in here.
Check into it a little more before you make yourself a target in your town.Or just come out and ask him.

Say something like"since you felt you needed to tell me this can I ask you how you were able to join the police?"

Don't know; but I'm glad he was a cop and not a robber. I'd rather have a bunch of illegal cops here than a bunch of legal criminals.

I feel that God didn't draw lines between Canada, U.S. and Mexico; so, what right does man have to do so.

I feel the sooner we stop playing the children's game of "this is MY side of the room and that is YOUR side of the room, the better. How juvenile!

The sooner we do away with borders and stop spending all the money on maintaining them, the sooner we can better educate our children and improve everyone's quality of life; and, the sooner we will have natural free-flow of work and workers. Borders are artificial. Americans are big on free market when it comes to America; but, when it comes to the world, maybe, they're afraid of the competition?

What if we had all that ruckus about STATE borders? We used to. Remember the original 13 colonies? All the trouble over taxes, colonies going to war with each other over colony borders? We matured a little, and became the United States.

Now it's time for the nations of the world to mature and become a united world. It's the natural evolution; from one man (Adam?), to couple (Adam and Eve?), to family (Adam, Eve, Cain, Abel?), to clan (Abraham?), to tribe (Moses), to city-state (Jesus?) to nation (Muhammad?) to a united planet (Baha'u'llah!)

One day we're going to have to interact with other planets, then learn to unite with them. How're we going to do that when we can't even get our OWN act together?

According to Baha'u'llah, the Prophet-Founder of the Baha'i Faith:

"There is only one race, the human race."
"The Earth is, but, one country, and mankind, it's citizens."
"There is only one religion, the religion of God."

Let's grow up, get our act together, and quit all this REgression, so that this planet can begin to PROgress!

What the heck we could quit all immigrants, criminal or unlawful. it particularly is been shown that lots of the extensive-unfold terroists got here into this united states of america legally or illegally by Canada and that they don't kill one here and there yet a team at a time (911). the place will it quit, who will quit them. And your 60/40 is made up, get your information without delay. look on the demographics for crimes commited in Houston or finished US and you will locate out that the information placed out via the information is a team of crock.

I think a lot of people confuse "citizenship" with "legal ailen" or "resident alien". The "green card" may have been given to this person, but full citizenship takes many years and is not easy to do.

lol i really cant imagine that esp in texas. I had little more respect for the state than that. But my friend has been recieving money for college for 2 years and he just became a citizen a few month ago lol but i attributed that to the perils of living in chicago.

Document fraud, most likely...write to the city council and ask some pointed questions...if they don't answer back, send the same letter to the newspaper...
