Why? Because it's a matter of convenience. If the "Word" is inconvenient, act like it's not there.

The same way they don't follow what Jesus said when he stated, "its easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." They go out and get in their BMW or Mercedes or other equally expensive car, go to their million-dollar home and have some pork chops. But first they say grace before eating. If they truly followed the bible's teachings, they not only wouldn't eat those chops, but they'd drive something cheap and live in a cheaper home, giving most of their money to the needy. In other words, all these bible-thumpers are a bunch of hypocrites who only follow what is convenient for them.

Yep. You can eat anything you like. As it is written: "He said to them, "Are you so ignorant? Don't you know that nothing that goes into a person from the outside can make him unclean? For it doesn't go into his heart but into his stomach, and is expelled as waste." (Thus he declared all foods clean.)" (Mark 7:18-19)
And
"Around noon the next day, while they were on their way and coming close to the town, Peter went up on the roof to pray. He became very hungry and wanted to eat, and while the food was being prepared, he fell into a trance and saw heaven open and something like a large linen sheet coming down, being lowered by its four corners to the ground. In it were all kinds of four-footed animals, reptiles, and birds of the air. Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter! Kill something and eat it." But Peter said, "Absolutely not, Lord, for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean!" Again a voice came to him a second time, "You must stop calling unclean what God has made clean." (Acts 10:9-15)
'nuff said.

Okay ya Pharisee, one more time for the nose-bleed seats .....
The laws of Moses were for a people held in slavery for hundreds of years then suddenly finding themselves in the desert, but free. In case you didn't know it, eating pork in the desert is a bad idea. So is eating shellfish in the desert. It's a health issue, not of concern to us now.

You can't eat pork, cut your hair around your temples, eat shellfish, go to church if you have a problem with your sight, or play football if you follow the bible word for word.
You can sell your daughter into slavery and buy slaves from neighbouring countries though.

Isaiah chapter 66 verses 15 16 17 will tell you. He says that people who are eating swines flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse when Jesus comes will be consumed. He's talking about things in the distant future. Jesus never did anything to change this. Swine are here for the same reasons vultures are here. They eat carrion. He never meant for man to eat these creatures. If swine meant anything to Jesus who said don't waste a crumb of bread,by letting the unclean spirits go into the feeding swine causing them to run over a cliff into the water to drown. They were of no value to Jesus for food. Other examples of unclean food are: Catfish,Oysters.clams, rats, rabbits, horses, dogs, cats, and the list goes on. Look them up in Leviticus. God expects you to read his book and learn. Don't listen to anyone who says it's alright now. It is not,and now you know, and God holds you accountable for what you have just learned.

New Testament, Dispensation of Grace. Old Testament law doesn't apply. Jesus fulfilled all the law on the cross. Read how God demonstrated that to Peter in Acts 11:5-9.

Gee, how many times do I have to post this?
Ephesians 2:15 Through his body on the cross, Christ put an end to the law with all its commands and rules. He wanted to create one new group of people out of the two. He wanted to make peace between them.
You don't understand that the Bible talks about different people living at different times and associating with God in different ways. The time of the law is over. It died with Jesus on the cross. It doesn't matter what it says, it has been nullified, end of story.

Because we are no longer bound to the Law of Moses. The pork thing wasn't a commandment. (One of the big 10, anyway)
Besides, Peter, and apostle of Jesus had a vision about several un-kosher (is that a word?) animals being lowered from heaven. God told him he could eat them now. Peter was grossed out. God said, "Do not call unclean what I have called clean."
And that's that.

How can someone who say they believe the bible word for word not believe that Jesus was the son of God and he died for all our sins? Its just like why are there different religions? Why did sister sister go off the air? I think its because of what makes a person comfortable and what we each believe.
