if you haven't done squats consistently before, this is probably due to lactic acid buildup in your quads and legs.
lactic acid comes from your muscles being worked out--however you will notice that if you don't lift weights often--your pain is much more severe the next day--compared to if you are an avid lifter, your pain is minimized much more
lactic acid--there are some ways to decrease the pain
1) light cardio--ironically, getting your blood moving and using these muscles will actually cause lactic acid to flush out, decreasing pain--you can do light cardio by walking at a decent pace on the treadmill, or jogging lightly
2) ice cold water bath--soak your quads in cold water--for 15-20 minutes, followed by warm shower to flush out lactic acid
3) very light lifts--at about 10-20% what you normally workout at--very light weights have similar effects as cardio--it allows you to flush out lactic acid and decrease pain
4) take aspirin
those are about all the things you can do to flush out pain--i doubt you pulled anything. sounds like you are getting the lactic acid buildup
if you don't do anything--it'll go away in about 1 week and sometimes 2 in beginning weightlifters

You haven't done it before and that is suppose to happen. When we work our muscle it breaks and tears and then when it repairs it gets bigger. Do some stretches and drink a lot of water, wait until the muscles aren't sore any more and do squats again. make sure when you finish your workout have a good stretch and drink a lot of water, that helps with the lactic acid that dude below me talked about

The reason you have pain is because you over exercised your legs. It might be that you haven't done a hardcore exercise in a long time, so when you do an excessive exercise, your body is in pain. The muscles are repairing themselves. You can ice them and stretching helps a lot to. I wouldn't reccommend doing that exercise for about 48 hours.

You may have pulled a muscle or overused a muscle. Try aspirin, advil or motrin. They are better for that kind of pain.

either you pulled a muscle or that's muscle building... give it a couple of days or so and it should be fine.
