I breast fed my daughter for 16 months and I wasn't at all moody because of it. I found myself being moody about my house being messy or having to study for finals. But I was never moody because of breast feeding. It was really something to calm my daughter and me down. Breast feeding is great for you and your baby and it doesn't mess with your hormones. It helps you by helping you burn calories and lose excess baby weight. And it helps your child because it is the perfect food that only you can make for your child. You can check this out on the LaLeche League web site. Please don't stop breastfeeding your child already. You've almost made it to a year. The longer you breastfeed your children the less likely they are to get asthma and allergies. Good luck with everything and I hope your mood gets better.

I think it is possible. Hormones and moods are funny things when it comes to the female reproductive organs. I have known some women who couldn't stand the pain of breastfeeding and the children drew blood. I also know women who breast feed for years. I happen to think that's just not necessary or a good idea. It looks silly and weird seeing a toddler wander over and get breastfed. And those kids are often too attached to mommy and freak out whenever she's not in sight. Everyone's different.

I wouldnt doubt it. I breast feed for 10mths but I wasnt moody. But I do know that when you breastfeed not only are you releasing milk but your stimulating your hormones which can cause a emotional release. This may sound wierd but I read along time ago in a parent mag that when you bf some mothers get sexually arouse because of the hormones that are activated during that time. Or maybe your pregnant again.

I nursed both my girls for more than 3 years each. I haven't found that breastfeeding changes hormone balance; rather, it seemed to keep me more "even". Have you resumed your period since giving birth, or are you adjusting the amount of breastfeeding you are doing? Nursing releases hormones in a woman to help her relax - it could be that you are getting less of that if you are adding other foods to baby's diet now. Otherwise, it might be time to go on the pill to help keep you more stable.

Probably not the breastfeeding, I know women who nursed much longer with no moodiness.

Have you talked to your doctor about post-partum depression?
