For best performance, a golfer needs a consistent swing that gets the clubhead to the ball squarely, and clubs that fit his/her body, posture, swing tempo and swing speed.
As a beginner you can focus first on the consistent swing. The clubs you have should be fine unless they are either so long or so short that you are uncomfortable (too bent over or feels like you cannot get close enough to the ball).
The perfect length is based on how close your hands are to the ground. If you are 6 feet tall and have shorter than average arms, later you might need a little longer clubs. If you have longer arms, standard length clubs might be just right. (I am only 5' 10" but have really long arms, so I use clubs 1/2 " shorter than standard.)
The flexibility of the shaft can be tuned to you too. But to start with any Men's flex is fine.
But the clubs don't matter much until you can swing consistently.
Golf is a wonderful and difficult game for people that enjoy the never ending variety and challenge.
Have Fun!

No, but get someone who knows what they are doing to help you. The Pro at the local golf course will help you get an idea of what length clubs you need. Or someone in the local Golf Shop can do the same. Just don't buy some lady's clubs just because they are cheap. You will have a year or much more of good practice before your clubs will make much difference.
You must first develop a grip and a swing that is consistent before clubs matter.

Club length and club fitting are important.
One of the things that few people talk about are the basics:
1. Grip
2. Alignment
3. Posture.
If you get those 3 things right, the rest will fall into place.
Digital Golf has numerous video tutorials on those topics. In the link below, check out the fundamentals section.

Because you are a beginner, you would benefit most from a properly fitted set of clubs. You should see someone who makes clubs to have them fitted to your build. Your height actually is only one of several determining factors in custom fitting clubs.
As you get better at golf, you will find it easier to adapt to different clubs and you should be able to play with almost any set. But for now, see if you can get your clubs fitted to your body type.

whatever academy clubs are they are most likely standard length and lie. I'm 6'3 and my clubs are 3/4 inch over standard length. you can still play with those but you'll have to adjust your swing and hunch down a bit more.

what's "academy"?
But yeah, club length MOST DEF. matters.
make sure you go to a golf shop, bring your clubs in, and they will check them out for you - for free. DO NOT PAY.
if they want money, walk out.
most golf shops will do this, because eventually, if you keep playing and improving, you're gonna want to get a good set of clubs. and you'll go back to that golf shop.
good luck, and hang in there - it's a TOUGH , TOUGH game.
the toughest.......... no opponent, except you.
