I'm homeschooled and it's causing me to fall behind. I tried to tell my parents that I would learn better in a normal school, but they say that it's for my own good. I just want to be a normal kid in a normal school. Does anybody feel the same way as me? Please answer!

My children love being Home Schooled! If you are falling behind with one on one instruction, you will most likely fall behind more in public school. Home Schooled children on the average are ahead of public school kids.
You say that you want to be "normal"! What is NORMAL? I have found home schooled kids are normal, very well adjusted to life in the real world. They don't just socialize with kids their own age, but all ages. There isn't another time in your life where you will be with only kids your own age except K-12.
Try enjoying what your parents are giving you! A good education! It is a gift a lot of kids would love to have in their life.

Are you new to homeschooling?

Since homeschoolers score much higher than regular schoolers in testing, in what way are you falling behind and why? Are your parents right-wing fundamentalist Christian nut jobs?

We unschool and so my kids have no curriculum. They are so much smarter and better informed and more interesting than their peers it's astounding. They pursue their interests, as deeply as they wish, and we don' t require them to study any particular thing. Nonetheless, they score very high on the required standardized testing each year.

I went to normal schools - they are horrible. The emphasis is on everything but learning. If you parents are not right-wing fundamentalist Christian nut jobs, then you should be able to meet lots of interesting and fun kids who homeschool and do lots of fun and interesting things with them. If your parents are R-WFCNJs, well then, how old are you and how much longer do you have to suffer?

It is not better, on average, for a kid to be in school than at home. Schooling is an utterly unnatural institution that teaches all kinds of conformity and idiocy.

Derrick get into contact with a child psychologist to tell your parents it's better for you to visit a normal school. You can make friends with other children's from your own age and work together at your school tasks. And also interact with the other children's. I can't feel the same as you, because I went to a normal school

Do you have other adults that you can talk to about this? Maybe other familly members or a clergy person. Your parents undoubtedly want to do what is best for you but you have some legitimate concerns. Please try to talk with someone.
