The nun I refer to is Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774-1824).

The Passion of the Christ (the movie) combines Catholic religion with Renaissance art. It is a movie, nothing more. Does it document Roman capital punishment? Maybe? Is there passion in being executed, I doubt it. Nobility maybe, but passion no.

Jesus was executed and the details can be found in the four gospels. There is no more detail.

However there is more to the Christian message than Jesus dying.

Start with the basics: God is spirit, we worship God in spirit and in truth. God kept his/her promise with Jesus (the name Jesus means God helps/saves/delivers); God raised Jesus from the dead (our hope for eternal life); and finally Jesus will return. This is the good news that Jesus asked his disciples to spread.

Movies are wonderful, but they present the director's view, but books sometimes are better. In this case, I would like to see what is really there for myself. Maybe you would like to join me.

All the information found in the KJV and Catholic bibles cannot be even nearly concluded, just some of the natural disasters like floods. The rest of the religions are a joke also. It is very doubtful that any god does exist. Drug use was rampant at that time as it is now. That helped others to "see" things like lighting and think other things. People had been drinking booze for a time well before god was invented also.

It is easier to go through life thinking that someone is watching over you than to live facing the empty universe (except for other life forms), that is the sole appeal of a god. We have been worshiping everything from rocks to stars and trees for as long as we've been here.

Look to the oldest cultures and you will no sign of the modern version of god. Not a tiny speck of evidence. Also, the myth started in the Middle East and branched out, not even the closest country (Africa) was privy to the stories until modern times. Foreign countries had no idea for hundreds of years. It made the world rounds just like a best seller.

If I were a god I would let the world know at once, wouldn't you? No, we had to do it like humans would. If god did exist, he would have certainly destroyed the original Catholics (Black Jesuits) while he was the "vengeful God". They killed millions over that time frame.

The Old Testament was written WELL after other gods were around; god was used as a tool to control the masses as they became larger and larger communities. Fear; not respect has always kept us in control.

As god fades away with knowledge, more and more laws have to be created to keep us under control from destroying one another...and that's not even working.

PS: Let's not forget that religion brings in a LOT of money, and has from the beginning...Food for thought.

It wasn't a nun who wrote that.

However, the Bible does say that the visage of Christ was so marred that He was hardly recognizable as a human being and that He was led as a lamb to the slaughter.

What He suffered for our sins was not pretty. We should be a lot more respectful and grateful.

It was a re-make of the previous rocky films.
Nah, it was like a part 6 of the gods and their resurrections. Gods loved doing that back then. The god Horus was beat up even worse than Jesus. There were witnesses.
