Brides have only been wearing white for less than 200 years. White is NOT a sign of virginity. Brides started wearing white after Queen Victoria did in 1840. I have stainless steel appliances and don't like white ones at all.

I will be getting married for the 2nd time in January 2007. I am not wearing white because: 1) I am not a virgin, 2) it seems silly for a 50yr old female to be wearing white for a second marriage, regardless of what all those Hollywood celebrities do. Kitchen appliances now come in a range of colors. Stainless steel seems to be popular now..but a ***** to clean. I prefer all white appliances with an all white kitchen and contrasting colors of blue and yellow.

In modern tradition, the color of western-culture wedding dresses is white. Used in this sense, 'white' or 'wedding white' includes creamy shades such as eggshell, ecru and ivory. The popularity of this color can be traced back to 1840 and the marriage of Queen Victoria to Albert of Saxe-Coburg. The Queen chose to wear a white gown for the event. The official wedding portrait photograph was widely published and many brides opted for a similar dress in honor of that choice. The tradition continues today.Prior to the Victorian era a bride was married in any colour except black (the colour of mourning) or red (which was connected with prostitutes). The white dress came to symbolize purity of heart and the innocence of childhood. Later attribution suggested that the colour white symbolized virginity. However it was originally the colour blue that was connected to purity.

Pakistani and Indian brides wear a variety of colours for their wedding dress. Mostly bright red and maroon but other colours such as gold, mauve, purple, pink, orange etc. are also in vogue. The girls attending the weddings also dress colourfully so its really a wonderful thing to see!

well, I've never seen an ivory fridge in Comet. Brides wear any colour. Many years ago, people didn't spend a fortune, they just married in their best clothes, so the bride would be in whatever colour the dress happened to be.

How childish.
The only thing white in my kitchen is a rice maker. My fridge, dishwasher, oven, stove, microwave, mixer, ice cream maker, fondue set, etc. are all coloured.
