I think the likely hood of a depression is higher than that of a world war. A lot of times you'd hope that societies learn from historical mistakes, but that isn't always the case. But on the other hand, all of this stuff as to climax to an end at some point.

the pre-lude was 9/11 attack on America. Act I was the US invasion of Iraq.

Act II will be a middle east conflagaration around Israel,Palestine,Syria,Iran axis.

Act III - while US is busy defending Israel, North Korea will take the opportunity to invade the South and China will takeover Taiwan...leading to nuclear showdown similar to the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Act IV - will be the breakdown of the "system", loss in confidence of US economy, long gas lines at the pump, Constitutional rights abolished

Act V - the end...who knows how it will end, but Einstein said World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones....

The simple answer is no. Too few countries have any interest in entering this conflict, let alone in extending its duration. The in-depth answer is yes. As the past has shown us, democracies are overly zealous of their system of government, and this tendency often manifests itself in a headstrong outlook; this could invariably lead to an ideological war in the predominantly anti-secular nations of Southwest Asia (Middle East).

My personal opinion is that this conflict will not escalate into an international conflict of enormous proportions. Too many emerging world powers exist nearby, namely India and the European Union. The threat in terms of economic devastation that those two powers pose rather eliminates any temptation a nation may have in entering this conflict.

haha Korea has no clue I don't think of how fast they and china will dissapear off the face of the planet if one missle leaves there launching pads. Lets just say, 24/7 for the rest of your life, we will always have nukes ready to obliderate korea or any country that tries something nuclear wise. Planes running 24/7 just waiting for it. I learned this from my geography teacher, just know, any country that starts a nuclear war will cease to exist withing 24 hours.

It's possible, but I don't think so, and here's why. Have you noticed how no other Muslim countries have jumped into the fray? They are more frightened of Hezbollah than they are of Israel. As long as no other Muslim countries join in and attack Israel, nobody else will be tempted to enter, and the conflict will remain localized. In fact, a cease fire is probably near.
