I'm taking amoxicillin right now for Bronchitis. I always am prescribed this antibiotic when sick and have drank on it before, but do not recommended it. I think especially because it lessens the effects of the drug, but also because it is not wise to mix alcohol with any type of medicine.

you shouldnt be drinking any type of alcohol while taking any sort of antibiotics or any other prescribed medications. check on the bottle of your meds it should have a warning lable on it. you also recive a pamphlet from the pharmasist that tells you what you need to know about the medications.

Yes it is bad. You don't know what kind of interaction you will have with the medication. Also, you may end up making the drug less effective.

Everybody who says it reduces the effectiveness of the drug is absolutely right. Also, I did it once and could not stop spewing, so it's just not a good idea all around.

You should not drink on antibiotics. Alcohol caused the antibiotics not to work. It sort of cancels them out.

Yes. Alcohol reduces the effect of antibiotics, and you would either have to take them for a longer period, or risk the recurrence of the infection if you drink.

Delora has it right. Additionally, antibiotics have a tendency to tear up your stomach. That's all you need right now.
