That's a tough one as it really depends on what kind of wine you like. If you go to sites like www.wineenthusiast.com you'll get a good idea of what wines rate highly and cost under $10. Click on Buy Wine in the upper right hand corner. You can also try www.bevmo.com.

A better site is www.klwines.com. They have ratings on most of their wines and several excellent wines rating 90 points or higher (on a 100 point scale) priced at $10 or less.

If you up your price to $12, you get a whole lot more options so I'd consider spending the extra $2.

My personal choice for a decent red is Christian Mieoux for around $8 (he makes Dominus which is around $100). I like Bernard Cote-du-Rhone Village at $10.

White wines are easier to get in this price range and it's all up to you what you like. I really like the Lindeman's Bin 65 at $5 a bottle. It's got a good balance of fruit and alcohol.

When you are living in Canada, it's difficult to buy a good wine under 10$. There is so many taxes, it's difficult to do so. Where i live in New-Brusnwick you can buy a pretty good bottle of an Australian wine named Brucu Murray. It's acabernet sauvignon and for me, this is the best i can get for ten dollars! Cheer!

The best tasting wine I have found and the best deal is Corbett Canyon of California Chardonnay. I get the boxed wine that has the smart tap and will stay fresh for 6 weeks. This boxed wine holds 3 liters and costs $9.87 at WalMart. You can also get it at Lowe's Foods or Harris Teeter for around 9.99 (that is a good deal for 3 liters of wine and it is very smooth tasting).

I was reading an article in the SF Chronicle recently that extolled the virtues of some Australian wines. Here in California, a very popular wine is Blackstone pinot noir (about $8.99 or so).

If you like red wine, then try Yellow Tail, Shiraz. It's Australian and very flavorful. You can get a bottle for under $9.00 in most places.

Most Australian wines are under $10 and pretty good.

Examples are Yellow Tail, Rosemount, and Lindemans.
