I need to write to a judge so he can release my husband that been lock up for 3 years for beening a mexican citizen and he has never hold or kiss his son. I'm a american and so is our son, but my husband had a conviction 12 years ago and did his time but at the same time he was just defending himself. so i moved back to the state to have our son and he was pick up before my son was born and now there a law if someone has a conviction they must do hard time, and he just wanted to be with me when i would give birth and we where planning to return back to his homeland Mexico... can you help me write to the judge to let him go so we can move on with our lives in Mexico and he can fineally hold and kiss his son....

I would suggest seeking help from the news media like 20/20 or 60 minutes. They have done similar stories in the past. I doubt you will be able to accomplish anything on your own.

You will also need to contact a lawyer and have him file a habeas corpus to try and expedite a solution to your husband's case. If you can't afford a lawyer, go to www.firstgov.gov and you can research the relevant laws yourself and if you follow this link you can apply for the free/low cost legal services:

Talk to a lawyer. In some states the judge decides sentencing but in others it's a jury. There may be a parole board involved.

Some lawyers do pro bono work, meaning without charging. Check with your local social services or one of the many nonprofits out there.

Definitely talk to a lawyer. If you want to go to another country, that could play a huge role on the outcome. They would probably rather have him go back to mexico than to pay his prison bills.
