have you ever watched the person in front of you give up and pass in the right lane ... only to hog the left lane so YOU couldn't pass? Or, have you ever been that inconsistent person?

What inspires such inconsistency / contradictory behavior in driving?

Belligerant drivers, usually are the culprit.

I have rear ended a couple of people, personally, and so I dont like to have someone right in front of me, even though I learned my lesson, and dont follow too closely. Its not always about passing. Sometimes its a claustrophobia thing, or something.

But for the belligerant ones, who pass you or honk like madmen, and then slow down to slower than you were previously going, or something, theyre just angry at the world, and think that everyone should have as bad of a day as they have had.

Screw em. lol!

Bad driving is not using a turn signal, following too close, weaving in and out, following the speed limit, or generally being discourteous. What we have to remember is that drivers are like children in a classroom. Some are better that others and some do not belong on the road. Bad driving is like bad parking. Don't you hate it when someone uses two parking spaces for one car?

People seem to live in seclusionlike the own the road or rule the world.... no wonder there is road rage....

People have too much anger and seek control so I think that is a way they can express it in their driving instead of dealing withthe real issues in their lives.

I think this inconsistency is caused by driving next to someone. I know that a lot of times I drive faster if I am next to someone. (Like why runners run faster when next to another fast runner.) The easiest way to avoid it is to use cruise control.

Our entire society is now based on selfishness. Everyone's motto has become, "Screw You". Horrible driving was the first indication of this de-humanization.
