It's a team sport for dogs. It's kinda like a relay race. You have 2 teams of dogs, 4 dogs per team, and they race against each other. You have in a row, a start line, which is also the finish line, 4 jumps, and a box at the end. The box is designed to release a ball when pressure is applied to the front panel. Each team has a row of these. Electronic lights flash to signal 'Get on your mark, get ready, go, cross the start/finish line', and penalties are given for dogs who cross too early, drop the ball before crossing the finish line, etc. It starts when 1 dog from each team is released. Both dogs cross the start line, jump over 4 consecutive jumps, trigger their ball box, grab the ball, race back over the 4 jumps, and cross the finish line, tagging the next dog to go. The idea is to get both dog's noses at the line at the same time. If the next dog passes the line before the other dog's nose gets to the line, that's a false start and results in a penalty. This goes on for 4 dogs from each team, and the fastest team wins. You can learn more about it at the link below.
I'm actually teaching my dog Flyball right now. I've been interested in it for a long while, and we just started his training. He's extremely smart (got all of his obedience cues almost immediately, especially sit, down, the basic stuff.) and is really getting the hang of it. The first day, he learned about going over the jumps, etc. The second day, he started going over the 4 jumps going back to the line by himself, without me having to lead him. Today, he was able to do all the jumps, get the ball, and go back to the line by himself. Most dogs need at least a couple of days doing what we did the first day, and even more time to learn how to do the course themselves. If you do decide to get into it, it is very fun to go to competitions and actually participate in it. It's fun just to watch from the sidelines as well though. It's a very high energy sport, and exciting. It's also very fast, so if you're watching one, especially one with Division 1 (Grade A) dogs, try not to blink!

Its a Dog Sport...A team sport...Dogs jump over several hurdles and hit a box..It releases a ball and they bring it back over the hurdles ..You have to let the next dog go at just the right time..The jumps are placed for the smallest dog on the team so each team has a little dog..Usually a JRT but I have seen all breeds..Border Collies , Aussies, Ect do Great at this but I have seen every breed do it..even poodles! Alot of Rescue Dogs do itt, Its not just for snobby AKC people or Show Dog Types!

It's fun! You get a team of dogs, then they race to a board at the end of a little run, and when they pounce on the board, it shoots a ball at them that they have to catch, and then they run back to you. Dogs love it because the atmosphere is great, and they get to run around. All dogs can do it, no matter their size.

If you are talking baseball, it is a ball that has been hit by the batter and is caught before it hits the ground.
