I hate hearing that! Look, if you really REALLY mean it, then that's really sweet. But I think it's just an easy way of telling a guy you aren't interested. I hear, "You're like my brother" and then I never hear from them again! Some brother! It just gets so old. So, how do you overcome that? How do you make sure you don't keep falling into that catagory?

When I give that speech, it's always to a guy who I really, really love as a friend, but am just honestly not attracted to. It's one of those things that a girl just can't help. As for how to avoid that, I'm not really sure what to tell you. But DO NOT start acting like a jerk. That's the worst thing that you could possibly do. I'm going to assume that you're a really good guy, because generally people who get that speech are. If you start being a jerk now to attract girls, you'll ruin your chances later on when we realize that you're the guy we really wanted all along. That's when it really matters! Keep your chin up, and good luck!

They consider you as they would their brother. Try being a tad bit more assertive. It sounds like you're too weak-kneed with them. Try really impressing them by opening the door for them, carrying their things for them, and just be mannerly around them. Be gentle and yet play a little of the bad boy routine. Keep an air of elusiveness about you. Don't play the brother role and they won't consider you as one. I know a lot of men I would consider as a brother because of the help they give me, when I have problems they listen to me, I can tell them just about anything. Would I ever sleep with one of my good looking hunky men friends? He** no, they're like my brothers. :)

i once dated my best friend by the way that wasnt a good thing to do and it just wasnt working out for me and i loved him just not the way he loved me and i told him that i like our friendship better and he was just too much like my brother.

anyways . i really meant that. and mopst girls use that as an easy way out just like you said. but there are actually some girls that mean it when they say it . there isnt much you can do about that except take it as it comes. thats just a part of life. but one day youll find a girl that really doesnt think of you as a brother and thinks of you as something more. good luck

welllll.... if you feel rejected you shouldnt because "you are like my brother" is the best thing in the world because not only will they respect you but they have this kind of "love" that will never hurt you.
idk i guess you shouldn't feel so bad.
and if you hear it alot then it means you ARE really a good friend and some of these girls should give you a chance.
but ask them what they exactly mean and if they cant answer that then they're just sayin it for the f.u.ck of it.

You wont fall in that category if you are with the right person. If you cant be yourself because they treat you like the "brother" then i dont think that person is ready for all you have to offer.

This is our definition of a "brother":
*Someone who we love, but like family
*Someone who we feel looks after us
*Someone we can talk 2 about family probs.
She pbly means she loves u, just not in 'that way"

It is a good thing, but try to go out with someone a bit different than you.

it means "I like hanging out with you but I just dont want to screw you"

its nothing you could "overcome" You just need to date girls "on your level"

youll work it out.
