I don't want to bring unwanted attention to myself, but I want to rais livestock in my apartment to help save on food costs. Is this frowned on in America, I havenot noticed any other livestock raised in city limits other then cats and dogs.

Rabbits would be a good choice, you could have a nice little "pet" rabbit pen in your apartment and other people would never suspect what you are up to if you go about it right. Rabbits are also cheap, easy to take care of and are good eating. So to raise livestock in your apartment you will need to disuise them as pets. Rabbits are actually a pretty common pet for americans. Go to your local pet store and check out what sort of pet might make good for apartment livestock farming. Guinea pigs might make an excellent option as well. You could also construct or buy a fish aquarium to raise fish in. Birds are also commonly found as pets in America except for birds that are raised specifically as livestock such chickens. Hope this helps.

It is frowned upon and against the law, and animal rights activists will have you ridden out on a rail, or tared and feathered to the point that you look like a chicken, so someone can slaughter you.

Well some nationalities raise dogs and cats to eat, so if they can get away with it why can't you ??
Of course, it may be against the law. ILLEGAL immigrants can get away with breaking all laws, but if you are not illegal you can't. You might want to consider that.
Here in certain parts of the south east, if you let your dog or cat outside it disappears, one can only assume where to.
