Of course they did, if they walked with God. Don't you think that your Creator, who knows how many hairs you have on your head, can also read the goodness of your heart?

Here is some interesting information for you. Get out your Strong's Concordance and check the meaning of the word "hell." It doesn't mean what a lot of people think. There is no eternally burning place of torture. It means "grave." The Bible also tells us that the dead are resting in sleep until Jesus comes the second time. So all of the ancient people went to "hell" - the grave. And there they will stay until Jesus comes the second time. As for them not knowing about God? God judges people by their heart and by the light that they were given. We don't know their hearts, so they may very well be saved.
This is a fascinating subject. Go to the following website and take their free Bible Studies if you want more information on this subject.

Read that thing called a Bible. God was in the begining. Uh Genesis 1:1 And "hell" hasn't started yet. Revelation 20 verses7-10 for an Historian you need to catch up on the oldest historical book in the world. They began writing in in Moses day. That is before any "prophets" of any kind.

Well being that they were around before Christianity was even a thought they were most likely grandfathered into heaven. It would make a really bad impression if they weren't allowed into heaven for not knowing. But then again maybe because they were around longer they might actually be the ones in heaven and everyone after them are the ones who are going to hell.

I'm a Christian, which is a major faith that says that IN THESE TIMES, there is salvation in no other name but Jesus Christ. But in ancient times, no, not everyone went to hell. The Bible recognizes priests who were not Hebrew (Melchizedek, and Moses' father-in-law Jethro who was a priest of the Midianites) as being due honor and respect.
Here is a REALLY good book for you to read, especially since you enjoy history so much!

According to the Judeo-Christian Bible, if people were born before the existence of any prophet from God....then on the day of judgement, they will be judged based on their actions when they were still alive and their conscience (please check for authenticity)
In Islam....all people are automatically born as Muslims, unless they strayed from God's path due to their parents, environment, etc.
Peace.

People who don't ""know" God go to hell, whether ancient or contemporary. That is the teaching of Christ.

If you are a big Historian than you would have noticed by now that all religions are adopted from one another. Keep on studying. I suggest Constantine.

You're a "very big historian"?
Perhaps you should learn to spell the word "pagan" before you try impressing people with your "learnin'"
