Seriously? I couldn't find any site that actually says how many dots are in the painting. One site mentioned that he painted the dots in thousands of colors. The painting is large, so I'm guessing the dots number in the tens or even hundreds of thousands. The painting was originally done in short brush strokes, and worked and re-worked many times. It is on display at the Art institute of Chicago, so go see for yourself. And please take the time to count all the dots! :-)
