I'm going to get a small one (if that helps), i'm still not sure which kind i'm going to get. P.S. - I don't really want funny names like: Skippy or Fluffy...

I would say get the puppy and wait a few days before naming it. It's personality will give you a clue on what would be a suitable name for it.

A friend of mind had named their puppy Lily. About a month later it became apparent that the puppy seemed to be following her around non stop, getting underfoot and not leaving her side, just like a shadow. Hence, Lily is now Shadow, now and forever.

You need to think about what things you like...like my husband likes the Red Sox and we called our puppy Papi because it is cute and that is David Ortiz's nickname. There are a lot of movie themes and stuff that you can use too....or the dogs color can come into play. A lot of names like Whiskey or Bailey work good and they are named after kinds of drinks. You just need to be a little creative.

when you get your puppy it will have it's own personality, and a great & fitting name will come to you.
I was getting a cat once and decided before hand to name him "King Tut"
but once I got him he was more of an "Einstein"...
wait and see until you get it, you will name your pup whatever fits him best...
names I like for pets I find in my favorite books, movies, or songs.
My favorite cat was named
Skandranon
from "the Black Griffon "
good luck!!

My kids actually found a puppy on the axle of my car many years ago. We named the dog "Axle". It was the best dog I ever had. I say: Axle.
