we have 2 cats here that my girlfriend has had for 15 years, and one had REALLY bad breath for a while. i dont know how old your cat is, but it may be the teeth themselves. our cat had 2 that needed to come out. she used to meow at me in bed and it was enough to make you pull away in horror. i'm really glad we took care of it. she was licking me in the face today, and i didnt smell a thing.
they do make toothpaste, and different treats for that, but i'd recommend asking the vet to take a look at her teeth. you might be surprised at what you find out.

Sometimes when cats breath smells really bad they have kidney failure, that's probably not the cause. Your vet should have something to help. Like kitty mints or tooth paste or SOMETHING. But you also might want to suggest that to your vet. My mom's cat was 18 and got kidney failure. Her breath was like that, if your cat is pretty young then it shouldn't be a problem the vet will just give him/her special food and your cat will be fine. But you should do this a.s.a.p. because my mom's cat was so old that she couldn't make it through it but the vet said if the cat had been younger then it would have been no problem. So don't worry but just call or go see your local vet and ask if that could be the case.

My Vet told me NOT to brush my cat's teeth. She doesn't brush any of her cat's teeth ,However alway's call the Vet first! .My cat just had some teethed pulled because she had gingivitis. I felt bad that I didn't brush her teeth but they just got bad and she's 12. She had really bad breath that I could smell 2ft away and she was really tired and listless. Now that she had the bad teeth removed she's so happy and playful again. She also has diabetes so I have to be careful what I give her. This bad breath thing can be very serious. Please have your cat checked out. Good Luck!

I have been the mother of a few cats in my life. Only one of my cats had bad breath. She ate only canned cat food and had the worst case of tuna breath! All my other cats ate dry food, none of them had the breath problem. If it is more than tuna breath, then there is a great possiblity that he has either bad teeth or stomach issuses.

Just to be on the safe side, take a look under his paws and around his body for infection. I had a kitty that had "bad Breath" however when I started to inspect, I noticed he had some sort of infection on the underside of his paw in the cracks and crevices.

take him to the vet. my cat's breath reaked so we took him in and they said he had sores on his mouth and gave him an antibiotic...it cleared up within a couple of days but you have to finish the prescription. it doesn't really cost that much either. i think the pills were less than $5.

He/she might have a rotten tooth. My last cat had bad breath, and I didn't know, but that was why.
