Im feeding my 23 month old son about 25 - 30 oz a day / three 8 oz bottles a day. Is that too much?

Also my mom says keep on giving him Whole Milk... But I would love to switch him over to Fat Free Milk which is what I drink. Is Fat Free milk ok for toddlers?

Absolutely not! The brain needs fat to develop, and switching him to fat free milk, or other foods at this stage could stunt the development of his neural pathways. Fat free foods tend to be loaded with additional sugars and chemicals to improve mouth feel, and so they are never appropriate for young children. As long as your child's weight is maintaining a reasonable trajectory on is growth chart, then do not try to restrict his caloric intake. He needs a well-balanced diet every day to stay healthy. Whole milk and fat free milk start out as the same milk, then it is merely watered down to lessen the fat levels to the point that they can legally label it fat free.

Yes, that seems like too much milk. First off, cow milk isn't the best thing for humans to be drinking, but since that is the choice you have made the most important thing would be to give him organic milk...or at the very least milk without RGBH!! That is a hormone that is given to cows that is bad for them and really really bad for us...it's the reason you see 9 year old girls with quite developed breasts. (Gross, I know.)
As for the skim/whole question, little kids need more fat than adults do. So, your mom is right there. However, enriched soy or rice or almond or even goat milk would all be better choices than the moo juice.

Toddlers are to consume about 16-24oz. of whole milk. Do not give them fat free milk. The fat in milk is important for brain development.

i understand this thread is large previous, yet i had to chime in an significant ingredient to think about. Soy and Almond milk are extreme in phytic acid, which leaches calcium and blocks different foodstuff from authentic soaking up into the body. On toddlers this youthful, it ought to have an significant result on their enamel, and may even reason dental decay on a awesome healthful eating regimen. i'd propose that in case you re going to do any of those milks, that you supplement with added calcium. in my view, about the unique request, ideal may be goats milk or hemp milk.

I never put a limit on how much mil my children drank. I gave them whole milk. Fat is okay for healthy normal size babies. But he should not be drinking from a bottle at 23mos.

Fat free milk is not right for small children; they NEED the fat to use fat-soluble vitamins and to build their bodies.
