Have you ever had a problem with neighbors in an apartment complex dealing with noise levels? Well I’m having a problem, my neighbors just moved in above me, I was trying to watch a movie at 10:30pm (I didn’t have it loud, but I didn’t have it quiet either), they began knocking on their floor (my ceiling), they knocked so hard it made my ceiling shake and almost made my ceiling fan fall down! I went upstairs to see what their problem was; they said they could hear my base. I told them I was watching a movie & it wasn’t up that loud & they had a choice to live in a Town House instead of the Apartment model in our complex, if noise was a concern for them.
Are my upstairs neighbors crazy?
The neighbors beside me have NEVER complained so why now the top ones do?!
I think the guy has a temper issue, the lady seems normal. They act like they don’t know how to come & knock on my door like NORMAL people or call the cops or something, NO, they go crazy hitting their floor supper hard! ARE they Crazy?

Maybe they've had this problem with other neighbors at other apartment complexes they've lived in, and banging on the floor was the only way to get their old neighbors quiet?
You said your movie was quiet, but maybe it wasn't. What is quiet to you might be loud (or just loud enough to be annoying) to your neighbors? Maybe they have young children that you woke up (even though it was inadvertent. It doesn't sound like you're trying to drive them out on purpose, lol)
Some people are in bed by 10:30 and any bass (even if it's distant, barely audible, etc.) is annoying. This is true for me. I live in a very quiet building, and hope to keep it that way. I have had one problem with the guy directly below me blaring his Mexican polka/rap/rock music at weird hours. It's always a bad time (10:30 at night, 8:30 Sunday morning, 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, when my kids were *trying* to nap). I tried knocking on the guy's door, but the music was so loud every time he couldn't hear me. I thought about jumping up and down, but honestly...the bass on his stereo was so loud it was vibrating my sons' bedroom floor and walls. I ended up calling the security office of my complex and they came out and took care of it. This happened twice. The third time (Sunday at 8:30 a.m.) it was brief, so I waited it out.
Depending where in your house your TV is, maybe the insulation on the walls is better than that on your floor, so your next door neighbors can't hear it, or maybe they're hard of hearing, or maybe they like loud music themselves, so it doesn't affect them.
Personally, I think any loud noises (music, TV, fights, etc.) are incredibly rude. I'm sure your neighbors are paying the same amount in rent as you are, and deserve to live in a peaceful, quiet area. Not sure what type of movie you were watching, but when someone has to get up for work the next day and at 10:30 they're trying to sleep and all they can hear from above them is gunfire, screaming, laughing, loud talking...whatever kind of movie it is you were watching) that's very annoying and also very rude.
I don't think they're crazy...I just think they had a bad experience with this with previous neighbors and have had enough. Maybe that's why they moved out of their last place...tired of calling the cops because it did no good?

I say turn the bass down. It drives me nuts when I can hear bass through the walls. It may sound good to you, but it can be very irritating to the person who is not listening to the music/watching the movie with you. But, yes it is nuts for them to pound on the floor! I can't stand that! They should have just come downstairs and asked you to turn it down. But at the same time, that can be scary too, especially to people who have never met you.
My horror story is one time while I was pregnant, at 3:30 in the morning on a weekday, my downstairs neighbors were playing their music so loud I could hear the words, so I went downstairs and (nicely) asked them to turn it down. Well, ha ha to me, they turned it up louder and added the bass! So I called the sheriff's department. Hah. The next day, all FOUR of the tires on my car had huge puncture holes in them. What a bunch of bullshit huh?

i for my section requested this question earlier about having loud or obnoxious pals. i'm sorry to take heed to that about your pals, that truly sucks. The neighbor to the left of me the mummy is a nurse, they have a son in college who's a marginally cool guy, so that they are ok. As for my pals on the right, it is this couple who only keep on arguing and arguing pretty a lot time-honored if no longer the different day. They get truly loud, all I listen is banging and screaming "you do not love ME!" the different pals have talked about as the police on them a pair of times yet I under no circumstances comprehend what is going on, i do not comprehend in the adventure that they have youthful ones..I surely have considered their kinfolk come over the following and there yet all they did is wrestle. a pair days again they were outdoors interior the storage i changed into cleansing the patio and that i listen them yelling and the guy alternatives up this piece of glass, i do not comprehend if it turned right into a cup? or some thing yet he only alternatives it up and throws it on the floor. i changed into in marvel. It truly receives on my nerves now and again too, I listen others screaming Pipe Down! ..the subsequent time issues get truly out of hand i'd only might want to communicate with the city or authority.

No they are not crazy, just frustrated. I would suggest, if possible, to disable your subwoofer or lower your bass and or volume. I have been in both positions (complaining and being complained to about noise). There is nothing worse than having to listen to someone else's music or movie especially if you are trying to sleep. When the person complained to me, I immediately quieted down. They really should have come and knocked on your door, (I have done that) but it is awkward. Definitely not fun to get into a retaliation war.

Oh brother you got live ones. Maybe you have a surround sound tv stereo system. You may have to change the setting to not have the base deep or something. It maybe vehicles outside their windows. Ask them that before they go banging on the floor and let the Landlord know all about their bizarre behaviour.

The short answer is yes, the neighbors are crazy. That being said, for your own protection, be proactive and go tell your apartment leasing people about the trouble you are having with them. Beware, these kind of people can make an endless stream of trouble for you, so be careful.. Document every incident.

Well, the thing is, if they CAN hear it, it's probably highly annoying. That's something you have to be careful of living on top of each other. I enjoy my own "noise -- music, tv, movies, etc. -- but it pisses me off when I can hear my neighbors' noise. And thumping bass is EXTREMELY annoying. And it's possible that the noise didn't travel sideways as much as it did UP. Who knows what the acoustics are like in your place.

I think they are a bit overreacting. But if such behavior continues, then they are really crazy and you need to call the cops on them.

Get some head phones. You'll be able to turn it up as loud as you want and you won't be able to hear other people's noises either!
