I am making cards that are 4.25 x 5.5 (1/4 sheet) and then I'm layering that with 1/2 smaller piece of vellum. I'm printing on the vellum. I'm trying to get the text to print in the upper left of the 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper so I only have to trim the .5 inches off the side and bottom, and then cut in quarters. When I try to do a custom label in Word, it shows up OK but when I print it, it comes out centered so I end up having to trim all around the smaller pieces of paper. I hope that makes sense.

Can anyone help?

I'm trying to use the labels option but by default it shows 8.5 x 11 and doesn't seem to let me change the size of the document when I click "new document" I lose the page set-up.

In page set up, select letter size but set your margins so you print in the corner you need. You can also try the envelopes and labels option from the tools bar. There are options for printing post cards, you can print the same document 4 times on one sheet.

I do a lot of manupulating to get results I'm looking for to do invitations.

Another option is to check out a company call Paperdirect.com They have a lot of different card stock and velum perforated so you can print on it then fold and separate, with a lot less trimming.
