I have worked in nursing homes and in mental health care. It totally depends on the type of envirmonment you work in. What do you mean by mental institution? I have worked with mentally handicapped people and rather enjoyed it, but I wouldnt want to work in a mental ward of a hospital. Most nursing students are just that, students, and they are just learning so it depends on how far along they are as too what they can handle.

If you ever worked the horrors of a mental institution you would understand. The chronically ill, which do not get better... The smell... The screaming, the crying, the fighting... The lack of funds that are proided to the mental institutions.... Those are all reasons to work in a teritary institution.
