if the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest?

2006-07-20 13:23:31 · 38 answers · asked by Medusa 4 in Pregnancy & Parenting Other - Pregnancy & Parenting

I am not pregnant, I am just looking for opinions.

Adoption is always an option.
I have a reason for asking

One either believes that it is murder, or one does not; the origin of the pregancy shouldn't have anything to do with it.

As for me, I don't believe it's murder. If it was, then every miscarriage would be followed up with a coroner's report and the issuance of a death certificate...which of course does not happen.

Seriously, as of this writing, we each have to make up our own minds. Because there is no way to definitively answer questions about the begining of independent life, this is appropriate.

No. It is not murder. Taking a life is not always murder, humans are the only species who have made it a closed crime. Euthanasia is not murder. It is letting someone die with dignity. If all the 'spiritual' people out there would look at the big picture, beyond the doctrines of the bible, then they'd have to agree, the spirit will live on and come to life in another physical body! Too many childern are concieved without love, and look at the way the world is. I believe the moment of conception is as influencial on the DNA as the parents genes! If a baby is brought into the world through an act of violence, what does that create? If a baby is developing in a body that doesn't want it, the energy will affect that living creatures DNA as well. Let the microscopic being's life be taken, and let the spirit move to a body that will love and cherish it!

Nobody asks this without wanting to start trouble, but since you ask: how can you kill something that hasn't been born yet? If you order fried chicken in a restaurant, do you expect to get scrambled eggs? Is that the same? Most people don't seem to realize how incredibly tiny an embryo is early on. It's nowhere near capable of living outside of the mother's body. I have two children, I've never had an abortion, and while I loved my children from the moment they were conceived, I also knew that for the first few months, this was a blob of growing cells that would one day be a baby. We, as a society, define life as starting at birth--otherwise, you'd be able to vote when you're 17 years and 3 months old or could drink at 20 years 3 months, right? And, in terms of rape of incest, if you're going to say it's a human life before it's born, then the circumstances of conception don't change that.

Well, I didnt used to think abortions were that bad until I saw some horrible graphic web sites on it where you see the dead, half developed babies and its SO sad! Im still torn though. I mean the way I see it is... If a person is having an abortion, that must mean they dont want the baby (in most cases) therefor, their probably not going to be great parents and in turn the baby will turn into a messed up useless adult (thats just what I feel results from bad parenting) but if they keep the baby, it wont have to go though any type of pain, and the mother can give it up for adoption and make a childless couple happy. A lot of times though, that child may just end up going from foster home to foster home or in a orphanage. Its a tough subject, one that I think people have very strong views on. I dont believe I would ever have an abortion after the pictures ive seen. I have had a D&C for a miscarriage, but obviously that wasnt becuase I didnt want my baby. This was just my opinion but good question......... :)

Yes no matter how you look at it, abortion is murder.
I dont see how if I were to go out and shoot someone I would get a life sentence in prison, but as long as a LIVING child is inside your stomach it seems ok...This isnt right!
Also, there have been cases where abortions have failed. How would you feel having your child grow up knowing that his own mother didnt want him!
It is not the unborn childs fault what happened to you...Just a sweet innocent child waiting to be born to be loved just like any other child.
You should really think about this.

murder is murder. If you can pick up a heartbeat on an ultrasound, that is a living, human being. physically stopping a beating heart is murder.

you have a tough call. I will pray for you and your very difficult decision -

If adoption is an option, I would strongly suggest that -
What if your mom had decided to abort you? Adopted children are wanted children, going on to have better lives because the parents truly wanted that child and will do what is best whatever it takes.

I don't mean to sound harsh - my heart goes out to you. I think you know what to do deep down.

Try asking that to a pro-lifer! They usually choke up and change the subject. They all hate me whenever I bring up that possibility.

I don't think that abortion is murder in the case of incest because the likelyhood of a miscarriage in those circumstances is going to be higher anyway.

I never considered abortion murder. I never considered it a form of birth control either.

I think abortion should be used lightly, in cases such as you have mentioned.

I think that even though you have benn raped or so, abortion is not a reason to KILL a baby, there is a living thing inside you, and aborting is the meaning for MURDER! I think the baby deserves a chance to live and will be grateful in the future for a chance to see the world, even if you have to adopt your baby to save its life.

From my perspective, yes it is. But then I believe that from the moment of conception you are carrying a living being that will one day be a baby. Not a chromosonal something or other that can be removed from a person. Besides if it wasn't a baby, how come so many women go through so much depression and sorrow over the loss of this child.

Some people think abortion is murder. Usually they think of themselves as Christians, yet Jesus spoke not a single word against abortion. So they are wasting their efforts if they think they are doing something God wants.

The best way to eliminate abortion is to eliminate unwanted pregnancy, and that can be done with sex education so that people know how to use condoms, birth control pills, and other birth control methods. Knowledge is power.
