I walk her and I use the whole back yard to train her. She is always running and jumping. She does tons of tricks, but she chases her tail, even after a hard work out. I was told because she is bord, but that can not be true. She is always with me and always doing things. I even take her almost everywhere I go. I can't play with her all the time, but she gets alot of my attention. So why does she chase her tail ?

I can not play any more than I do with her. She get alot of my attention maybe to much and maybe she wants all my attn. She has tons of toys you would think I have little children here. she does play with them. She has chew bones too and the green things that are good for her teeth. She love her treats. She obeys very well and is a great dog. Now when I was sick for the last 4 weeks here lately I notice she did it alot more.
When was sick she also sleep by me and wouldn't eat hardly anything unless I did.

Arthur, I have had alot of dogs and I never saw one that does that. Name calling is not necessary.

chasing her tail is an abnormal behaviour that the dog has got itself into a cycle of doing. Try to determine if she does it at particular times and distract her from that behaviour with a toy then praise her when she stops the behaviour this should help stop the cycle.

The true reason why do dog chase their tails is that Dogs that are not properly stimulated and that do not have anything to chase after in their habitual environment can sometimes turn to chasing at their own tails. This type of behavior can actually turn into an obsession to the point where they forget about everything and everyone else while going around in circles like crazy maniacs. Sometimes they manage to catch their tails and bite themselves so hard that they actually bleed; the important thing to look into though is the chasing of the tail. Some dog owner's cut their dogs tail in hopes of ending with this problem, but the dog still continues to chase at it. If your dog has this problem, he is probably not getting sufficiently stimulated and needs to be provided with more toys so he can play with and be allowed to run about etc.

That's obsessive behavior, and should not be tolerated. Your dog is bored. Call your local kennel club and see if there are any earth dog trainers in your area, or even within an hour or two away, and get your dog started in earth dog training, what he was bred to do. There is NO such thing as a MINI JRT, they come in ONE size only. FRONTLINE is only 75% effective. My vet recommends Advantage II. As far as worming is concerned, you did, of course, take a stool sample into your vet to have it analyzed, and got meds from the vet. OTC products don't work, a waste of $$$.

it's a mental thing, you really should break her of that habit.
take an empty plastic container, like a vitamin bottle (plastic), put 2 pennies in it (or whatever), and screw the lid on tight.
When she does it, say NO! (loud!) and shake the bottle to make a very loud noise.
Each and every time--she'll stop soon.
And, she'll really know the word "NO"!

She must enjoy it or else it's an obsessive compulsive thing. That's what I saw on The Dog Whisperer.

I wouldn't worry about it. My dog loves to chance his tail too.... he mostly does it when he's excited. He enjoys it and it makes me laugh. I bet your dog is the same, happy and full of energy!
