And it does not mean that you will walk an easy road but that you will still stumble but that God gives you the strength to rise and walk again?

Actually, we don't "work" on our salvation. When you confess your faith in Jesus Christ, you are saved. There is a verse that says "work out your own salvation in fear and trembling"....this doesn't mean that one "works" their way to heaven. This is about each person's own Christian walk, and you described it very well.

Every day we get up and go into the world and try to do as Jesus asks us to. We fail, stumble, just as you said...but we pray, repent, praise Him, ask God for strength, do all these things. And then the next day we start all over again.

It is the assurance of salvation that God grants us. He also assures us He will "never let us fall". Having an easy life is of little importance to me: representing Jesus Christ in the manner God would have me is what matters.

Agreeing with those quoting Ephisians 2:8-9
and adding Romans 5 the whole chapter, its only 21 verses.
So many of us our sinners, born of sin to sin, we have no choice as humans. In order for our"works" to save us, we would have to be perfect from the moment of birth to death. no sin whatsoever, no 1 mile an hour over the speed limit, not one by-word, nor ridicule under the breath. NOTHING AT ALL. which by being human that is impossible. but as Romans chapter 5 tells starting really in verse 15, that since Jesus had the ability to be perfect as God's son one and the same, he would be the ultimate sacrifice, his blood would cover all sin from then to the end of the world. By accepting Christ as your savior you are expected to try to be the best you can be believing in Christ. and knowing that the sins you do falter to commit are still covered said by verse 20: "Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.

all that is not to say that you can ask for salvation and then go on living like the rest of the wretched world, but if you are truly SAVED you will WANT to become better, but when you stumble, God will catch you and hold you till your nerves have calmed.

I agree with all that except for "working on your salvation." I'm not exactly sure what you meant by that, but I wanted to point out that there is NOTHING we can do to get salvation. (Eph. 2:8-9). But yes, we are not perfect and we are simply striving to become more liek Christ every day. This is not an easy road and never will be, but God's strength will ALWAYS be there to help and guide.

What is perfect? A tea cup is perfect for drinking tea from but it would not be perfect for digging in the dirt. I think that God placed us here to grow and learn. In the beginning he placed two beings in a garden and said that it was good. then he told them to be fruitful and multiply, in a sense he said take this good thing that I have given you and make it better. I think that Christ said virtually the same thing when he gave the parable of the talents. So I agree that we are doing good to keep getting up when we stumble, but I think that the work was finished at Calvary. God bless you.

It is a forgone conclusion that none will ever achieve perfection. There has only been one man to ever walk this earth that was perfect and that is Jesus Christ.

Salvation is a work in progress. As hard as we might try, we can never match God's gift of Grace. Any effort we make will be an affront to God because it would be so trival in comparison.

I don't like the term "working on your salvation." It sounds too much like "saving your own a$$" to me. You should of course work to make yourself better, stop committing sins, do good works and be a good example. You don't have to be a Christian to do that. When people say that Christians are "saved", isn't it really just stupid because it is up to God to decide who is "saved" after all, isn't it?

we are born
at some point we learn gods laws
we break them
satan stands and accusses us of sin
satan sinned
he rebelled against god
god cast him out of heaven
he is jealous and wants others in his rebellion
this is why he stands and accusses

i dont know this label christian, its polluted

i know life in christ jesus

god's way for atonement of sin is shedding of innocent blood

adam and eve sinned and god gave them animal skin (shedding of innocent blood) instead of their figleave, that his ways were required for atonement

in egpyt god sent the destroyer to shed innocent blood, that israel may go free

is it any wonder this is one verse among many in exodus, one little verse where the destory acts

its very small in genesis, god comes down and gives them animal skin

jesus is the sacrafice
once a human person accepts and believes christ jesus, there is atonement of sin
the person has knowledge that his name is in the book of life
on judgement day jesus will give this person fruit from the tree of life
that the person will be able to with the fruit stand in the prescense of god the creator

satan has no ally with the saved but finds other men to accuse

does the saved person sin, surely, daily, pride, lust, etc.

but it is the saved person's burden that conscience will kick it, and the saved person will ask forgiveness from his fellow mankind for sins against god that effect the other person

this is not an easy road or a high road or any such road

its is merely god's way,

it is god's way or spiritual death

figleave, or animal skin

belief in jesus, or as revelations chapter 21 teaches us, cast into the lake of fire

We don't work ON our salvation."For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2 : 8 & 9

"Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." Phillipians 2 : 12
We work OUT our own salvation by staying in communion with God. Staying in His Word and letting His Word dwell in us.

And none are perfect but God. Where it tells us to be perfect as He is perfect, it means mature in the Word and ways of God.

I thought the idea of being a Christian is that you repent and accept salvation as a free gift. What work is that?

While I agree with your statement there is no way that we can earn our salvation.
It is freely given by Jesus Christ.
Yes we are working on walking more and more like Christ.
No, it isn't always easy but I have found that even when it gets really tough and it seems that all is lost it's just God getting me where HE wants me to be.
