i think i might have a mild case of ADD or maybe its just lack of interest
This is for ADHD but thats basically the same as ADD
The symptoms of ADHD fall into the following two broad categories:[4]
Inattention:
1. Failing to pay close attention to details or making careless mistakes when doing schoolwork or other activities
2. Trouble keeping attention focused during play or tasks
3. Appearing not to listen when spoken to
4. Failing to follow instructions or finish tasks
5. Avoiding tasks that require a high amount of mental effort and organization, such as school projects
6. Frequently losing items required to facilitate tasks or activities, such as school supplies
7. Excessive distractibility
8. Forgetfulness
Hyperactivity-impulsive behavior
1. Fidgeting with hands or feet or squirming in seat
2. Leaving seat often, even when inappropriate
3. Running or climbing at inappropriate times
4. Difficulty in quiet play
5. Frequently feeling restless
6. Excessive speech
7. Answering a question before the speaker has finished
8. Failing to await one's turn
9. Interrupting the activities of others at inappropriate times
A positive diagnosis is usually only made if the patient presents with at least six of the above symptoms. In addition, a positive diagnosis is made if six or more of these symptoms presented before the age of seven; the symptoms usually begin to appear between the ages of four and six. Symptoms must appear consistently in varied environments. (Ex: At home, school, and in public.)
Children who grow up with ADHD often continue to have symptoms as they grow into adulthood. Adults face some of their greatest challenges in the areas of self-control and self-motivation, as well as executive functioning (also known as working memory). If the patient is not treated appropriately, co-morbid conditions, such as depression and anxiety may present as well. If a patient presents with such conditions as well, the co-morbid condition is usually treated first.

I have ADD...I wasn't diagnosed until I was 26...six years ago. I'm sure you've heard the joke:
I decided to wash my car. As I start toward the garage, I spotted the mail on the hall table. I should go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay the car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the trash can under the table, and notice that the trash can is full. So I put the bills back on the table and take out the trash first. Since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the trash anyway, I might as well pay the bills first. I see my checkbook on the table, but there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go to my desk, where I find the bottle of juice that I had been drinking. I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the juice aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over.
But the juice is getting warm, and should be put in the refrigerator to keep it cold. Heading toward the kitchen with the juice, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye. They need to be watered. I set the juice down on the counter, and find my reading glasses, for which I've been searching all morning. I had better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers. So I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water, and suddenly spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. Tonight when we sit down to watch TV, we will be looking for the remote, but nobody will remember that it's on the kitchen table. I should put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers. I splash some water on the flowers, but most of it spills on the floor. So, I put the remote back down on the table, and get some towels to wipe up the spill. Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.
At the end of the day: the car isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm bottle of juice sitting on the counter, the flowers aren't watered, there is still only one check in my checkbook, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses, and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
I'm trying to figure out why nothing got done today; it's quite baffling because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired.
It may be a funny joke, but to an adult with ADD, this is exactly what life is like. There is a severe inability to stay focused on things and it is very easy to get distracted.
I was on medication for awhile, which helped, but I had to stop taking it because it was too expensive. I help solve the problem by trying to be very organized. I make lists, keep binders and files, and I should buy stock in Post-It notes. Being active, following a healthy diet, eliminating caffeine, and sticking to a routine as much as possible has helped a lot too.

Adults with ADD / ADHD may have the following symptoms of inattention and hyperactivity / impulsivity:not remembering being told something,"zoning out" in conversations, being late or forgetting to show up when expected, speaking without thinking, pressured rapid-fire speech, seemingly random, and aimless hopping from one topic to the next, perceived as aloof and arrogant, or tiresomely talkative and boorish, compulsive joking, often about personal life history and feelings, easily frustrated or bored, leaving a mess, procrastination (difficulty starting tasks), incompletions (starting tasks, household projects, or book reading, but not completing them before new projects or new books are begun, leaving a never-ending to-do list), underestimating the time needed to finish a task, insecurity and self-esteem issues because of unmet high personal expectations, and often a high achiever, even an overachiever, but with poor self-image because of beliefs that more could be accomplished if not for disorganization.

Other less talked about symptoms are: missing appointments, getting sidetrack VERY easily. Switchng subjects in the middle of a conversation. Annoyed easily by repetitive noises, especially when having to do a task that requires concentration. Not being able to do simple tasks such as keep a room/kitchen/bathroom clean. Not doing the dishes/laundry everyday (or whenever it has to be done). Procrastination. Getting physical when upset or in pain but can't explain what is hurting exactly or causing the frustration (feels like you can't explain yourself and being a tad violent is the only way to tell whoever's/whatever hurting you to stop). Doing many little projects, and kinda floating around all of them (I always explained it like a hummingbird form flower to flower).
My exboyfriend of almost 2 years has adult ADD so i've seen it firsthand.
