I realized that I may come off as a snob to people, because I avoid making eye contact and walk past people pretending there not there. The truth is that I'm afraid to even say hi because they I think that they might reject. I don't want to be like that anymore because I seem really rude and would like to be friendlier! Any advice?

Look, if there's one thing I've learned in life, it's that you can't live it trying to please everyone around you. The only thing wrong with you is your fear of the opinions of others. This is the thing that prevents you from being friendly in the first place, creating a conflict when you realise that you cannot please all of the people, all of the time. My advice is that you stop carrying what others think, and be as extroverted or introverted as you please, depending on the person that you really are, not the person you want everyone to see you as.

People who first meet me think I'm a snob, too. Really, I am just shy around people I don't know, but once I get to know them, I'm very outgoing. I just try to be aware that I'm like that, and while I know I am not one to strike up a conversation with a stranger, I do try to smile and make eye contact. Usually people will say something to me, and then I can ease into a conversation.

It's cool that your honest to yourself and your gonna change what you do.

You don't need advice on what to do, You know what you've been hiding from. Next time your in a situation just muster up the will to do what you know you want to do, and do it. You've got everything to gain and nothing to loose. It will be liberating and will be fun or will be fun as you gain courage. Just forget yourself and act. Enjoy.

Take baby steps. Try smiling and saying hi when you pass someone each day.
