God loves you even if you do not acknowledge His existence. I am so sorry that you do not know Him. You know the apostle Paul was against Christianity...he went about seeking Christians out and persecuting them. God, changed him and He can change you too.
What is the meaning of Atheist? I think that it is you who is hiding behind a word. You are so afraid that you could be wrong that you must hold on to this ignorance. Ignorance is not always bliss my friend.

Why can't spiritual have a meaning? I believe we are spirits living in a body. Sorry, but I think I am in a better place to define myself than a stranger is. Atheists use the word "closed mindedness" to describe "religious" people. If you are going to accuse other people of being closed minded, then shouldn't you atleast rise above it yourself.
Religion only has a bad reputation to some people.Just like atheism has a bad reputation to others.

It's interesting to me how much time and energy you've spent here, just today, in trying to get a rise out of Christians. Face it, my friend. You're just a simple 'hater' with way too much time on your hands. Yes, you're right, Christianity is an exclusive club which you are not allowed to join. You see, God chooses who will and who will not be saved, and apparently, so far, you aren't on the guest list to the big party in the sky. But don't worry, if God has plans for your life, HE WILL contact you for sure. Until then, try not to spew so much poison bile. It would do everyone in Yahoo-Answers a world of good, including you. Sincerely, UC Steve.

What are you talking about? How are Christians trying to change the meaning of religion? What Christians are saying they're spiritual? Why would it have anything to do with our reputation?

Yes, I'm a Christian, but I look down on those who frequently change some meanings in order to defend their beliefs against the attacks of others. It's unfair and it gets nothing nothing; they attempt to make their beliefs unfalsifiable. All beliefs are falsifiable; that is, others can make legitimate arguments to try to prove them wrong. However, that doesn't mean they're wrong. We can't prove any of our beliefs; this holds true for Christians, Hindus, atheists, etc.
So, what I do, and what I urge others to do, is to simply believe with unquestioning faith. Don't try to prove the other side wrong. Don't try to prove your side right. Just have faith and say that your side is correct. It looks kind of bad and desperate when you keep changing meanings and such; don't be a debate whore. Simply have faith in God, many Gods, no God, or whatever you think is right. That'll make the world a better place without these fruitless debates.

Hey dude all these people are fanatical haters, dont mind them, I think you should read this book called Jaiva Dharma (its not christian or catholic or any of that). ITs awesome, it gives in depth insights about all material and spiritual aspects. Here's the 1st paragraph of the Intro (you can get it from www.purebhakti.com, and if you really do read it tell me what you thought), "Of the many religious traditions in the world, almost all of them
adopt various methods to propagate their respective ideals.
With this in mind, they publish literature in different languages.
It is self-evident that in the realm of secular education there are
elementary, intermediate and advanced levels, as well as higher
and lower branches of learning. Similarly, it is self-evident – and
those who are widely read and deeply learned in comparative religious
studies universally admit it – that there are gradations of
knowledge in the metaphysical teachings of the diverse religious
traditions. Amongst all these religious ideologies, the instructions
given by Sri Caitanya Mahäprabhu on the religion of prema (pure
love) are the highest revelation from all angles of vision. Surely,
once the world’s impartial thinkers are exposed to such sublime
understanding, they will unanimously accept this fact."

Those who claim to be religious are just that... they claim to know all there is about different subjects.
Those who claim to be SPIRITUAL are those who walk the path of Christ.
If being Spiritual has a bad name, I will deal with it because there is a difference. The world calls us religious because they themselves have no spirituality.

get a grip, buy a dictionary, and try to make a valid point without inventing an argument out of whole cloth...your initial question "why" is based on a faulty premise (that Christians are somehow "trying to change the meaning of religion"), which inevitably leads to a faulty conclusion...

CCP has been thoroughly whitewashing their invasion of Tibet, East Turkistan, Vietnam, Korea, India, Chairman Mao's atrocities for the period of the Cultural revolution and starvation of hundreds of thousands of chinese language people for the period of the great bounce forward, the bloodbath of chinese language pupils in Tinanenmen, its help of murderous Pol Pot clique and North Korea's dictatorship. the place are the protests against the chinese language government for not coaching approximately how undesirable Mao Ze Dong fairly grew to become into? There are none, why? as a results of fact the government brainwashed those with their stupid manditory "political" training at school. and despite if there have been, the government might brutally repress them. yet as quickly because it particularly is against Japan, the chinese language government is "helpless to quit the protestors" --- supply me a destroy. In particularly civilized international locations, media is loose and guarded under the form, and individuals are truthfully inspired to place their very own perspectives and theories forward. under the CCP its government controlled and used in elementary terms to sell propaganda.

Kind of silly, one of the definitions of religion is belief in and reverence for a supernatural power regarded as creator and governor of the universe.
But what is wrong with them calling their selves spiritual which one of the definitions of is of, from, or relating to God.
I am not a Christian and don't quite understand why you care.
