General Gerorge C Patton was from a rich california family who were republicans as was George himself. George was not a political general such as his contempory Dwight Eisenhower was. George voted republican because it was his family tradition and he felt it was his civic duty to vote.

He was apolitical most of his life. He had great admiration for Franklin Roosevelt. He was distantly related to George Washington.

But somewhere, he felt that Democrats had betrayed the US by allowing the USSR take control of Eastern Europe. And he was firm beleiver in merit & equity.

So, he was a Republican(maybe).

Infact, most of the best US Military Commanders(minus GC Marshall) were Republicans.
