Yes,

Dry sockets (fibrinolytic alveolitis) most commonly occur on the lower arch. It is unclear why this occurs, but it is believed to be caused by a dislodgement of blood clots in the extraction site. It is best to obstain from drinking through soda straws. Drink directly from a cup. Do not smoke until the extraction site is healed, usually 2 to 3 weeks. Rinse mouth with warm salt water 3 times per day. Eat foods rich in vitamin C and protein.

The sucking motion from a straw is why causes dry socket..and exposure to air...you need just to get some soup broth and make sure it is lukewarm and drink that or juices from a cup...take it as a blessful 2 week liquid diet.

if the area is healing than it's fine to drink out of the straw now. If it's still swollen or raw,i would wait. Better safe then sorry.

if its been a good 7 days and your doing good, I'd say grab that straw and milkshake and enjoy... grab a popcicle of chioce too.
I think you would have got your dry sockets by now I think after about 7-9 days to be on the safe side,... enjoy

Please don't drink out of a straw until you go back to see the doctor....the suction or whatever pulls out the blood clot...other than that, if you can bear the pain, just be careful with what you eat!! And take your Vicoden
