accept my gift as a friendly one?
I want her to know that it's a casual gift and nothing more. (It's a perfume, by the way).

Just tell her what you said -this is a casual gift I got for you just because you are my friend!! perfume should be given more as a gift for a girl that you care about in a more serious kind of way!

She'll never accept it as a "friendly gift." Perfume is not a casual gift. Only give a girl perfume if you are her bf or husband.
Want to give her a "friendly" gift? Try a book she would like or something. Perfume will freak her out (esp if your not dating her).

write her some type of note stating that its a friendly gift, you know something like "hey thanx for been such a good friend" or " all my good friends deserve appreciation" just something that will make her feel like thats just the way you are, you give presents to all your friends. That way she doesnt think she's totally unique, cause then you might make her think you have crush for her and things could get ugly. Show her you have good faith for all your friends, not just her.

Hmm why are you buying perfume for a friend if it isnt her birthday or anything?? Maybe you could say....hey I went shopping today and picked this up for ya. Say it casually and quickly change the subject to, Oh and I also got this cool......( shirt, pants, whatever)

Ah it drives me nuts when guys buy stuff for me as a "casual" gift. Like me she may just feel uncomfortable accepting it. You may not be able to give it to her without her feeling really akward.

well, why are you buying her a gift if it's just freindly? If she is just a freind and you guys are close enough to buy eachother things then just say "I thought you would like this, I'm not hittin on you or anything... but your a great friend and I thought I would treat ya." or something to that effect...

first of all - you must be friends with her.
People don't go giving gifts without motives if they do not know each other. Giving gift to someone you really don't know / or close to might give her the wrong signal.

Just put it in her hand and say, "Here, keep it. It's nothing. No strings attached. I swear."
Then laugh. Shake your head and say really.
Say, " I like you as friend. Nothing more. Now take the darn thing". And laugh again.
That should work.
