No, you're not overweight. Almost directly in the middle of the healthy weight range as defined by BMI.

Keep in mind that weight itself is not the only issue here. As an earlier answer mentioned, muscle weighs more than fat... if you are weak and 161 pounds, you may be closer to 'chubby' than 'skinny', whereas if you're quite strong you would probably be quite slim.

But as long as you don't gain too much weight in future, that is more a matter of image than health.

Keep in mind the older you get the more you need to exercise to keep the weight off, and you're at an age now where resistance training (weights) is considered okay. Frequent exercise is important of course.

By the way Noelle, BMI does not equate to a percentage of body fat. That is an entirely different test.

If you're a girl, you're obese, if you're a guy that's not really okay either. Unless you're a body builder and it's all muscle (and that's A LOT of muscle), you probably need to lose a few pounds. For a girl 5"8 you should be around 130-150lbs For a guy 5"8 you should be around 150-170lbs

I was 5 10 and 160 when I was 17, now I'm 42, 5 9 and 275. It's called gravity, and it's commin' for you.

No that sounds like a perfect weight for your height, particularly at your age. You can expect to gain a few pounds as you get older, just filling out naturally, which means you will probably end up around 170 if you take care of yourself.

different for male and female and each individual... there are some who say over weight on a "chart" and yet really be fine. Best way to tell is how your body feels. Do you have the energy you need? Are you able to get around? Are you active or sedetary? I wouldn't think you are, but go off what your doctor says and how you feel.

For a guy? HECK NO! If you're worried about what you see in the mirror, then start working out and lifting weights. You might have some flab, but the 160 for 5'10 is about just right for your age.

It all depends on your BMI (body mass index). Keep in mind muscle weighs more than fat. If you are a person who regularly exercises and lifts weight- you have nothing to be concerned about.

I hope not, that's my height and weight, too.
I don't think I'm overweight, but then again, I'm not underweight, either.
