You can be absolutely confident that what was written in the Bible about Jesus is accurate, and its accuracy has been confirmed by scholars (both Christian and non-Christian) repeatedly over the centuries.
After all, who had a stronger desire to preserve and pass along accurately the message of Jesus than the first Christians? They believed He alone was the Son of God, sent from heaven to save us from our sins. They also believed nothing was more important than obeying His command to "go and make disciples of all nations ... teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19-20). What possible motive could they have had to change Jesus' message or suppress the facts about His life? The only logical answer is: none.
Instead, they diligently wrote down the record of Jesus' life and teachings (under the guidance of the Holy Spirit). Luke, for example, began his Gospel by assuring his readers that he had taken pains to be sure it was accurate: "I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning" (Luke 1:3).
Don't let anything shake your confidence in what God has given us in His Word, the Bible. Most of all, don't let anything shake your confidence in Jesus Christ, who alone came down from heaven to save us from our sins.

Yes - Jesus was a man. He was also God. According to scripture, he came to earth, became a man, was sacrificed to provide a payment for all of mankind's sins, rose from the dead, and returned to Heaven.
The Da Vinci code is an interesting piece of fiction. Even the author has said that it has no basis in fact. It's basis is in extra-biblical writings (writings not accepted as scripture because of their unreliability) and a series of "what ifs". It is no more reality than Pirates of the Carribean is.
It amazes me how the media grabbed a hold of this novel and has made it out to be the next Bible. If this was a story about Mohammed, instead of Jesus, we would already have World War 3 over it. But because it is about Jesus and Christianity, there is a whole different mentality about it.

Um... have you ever picked up a bible? According to that it did, and I do believe there is other historical evidence that he DID, indeed, exist. However, there is a lot of fact AND a lot of fiction in Da Vinci code. You should google for sites that can point out the fact and fiction. (Not a religious site!)
For example, in the book the religious historical scholar says that in the council of Nicea they debated whether or not Jesus was a man or God.
That is falsified information. The fact is that in the coucil of nicea they already believed Jesus was a God because of all the miracles he had performed. (The coucil of Nicea included Constantine, so was long after Jesus' death.) What they WERE debating was whether or not he was a God in and of himself or if he was, indeed, a part of the Holy Trinity, because man, on a whole, finds it really difficult to understand the concept of three in one... some believe that the Father (God), Son (Jesus) and Holy Spirit are separate beings, but that is not what the bible says.
Hope that helps...

Ok, here is the think with the Da Vinci Code. First Dan Brown is an excelent writter. He does use a ton of factual informtion. But then it is also mixed with information that is unproven. And then finally mixed in with more information that can't be proven. So it can lead you to beleive that the whole work is a fact. He does this kind of thing in all of his books. Which to me they are all great. But they are works of fiction that use fact to raise your emotion.
As far as you question Is it ture that Jesus was a man. The answer to that was Yes before the Da Vinci Code. Jeasus was born of Mary as a man to live with us even though he was also devine. It is one of the mystries of Christianity the fact that he was both God and man.

Yes, Jesus was a man. He was also God. Hard to understand, but he lost none of his divinity when he became a man. As for the Da Vinci Code, it's purely fiction. It's a great story, but it's not inspired so it should not be treated like God's Word.

Of course Jesus was man; the question is, was he also God (or the Son of God.) That is a question that is up to you to answer.
As for the "Da Vinci Code", it's a badly written formula novel (all Brown's plots are essentially the same), containing some half-baked "theories" that are not taken seriously by the vast majority of serious scholars. The movie was too long, and rather boring; any action moie that has a line like "I need to get to a library," is pretty bad.

I am not sure how some people actually know the truth about Jesus. I understand beliefs can cause us to think things are a certain way, but really none of us know who and what Jesus was for a fact. Facts are facts without any dispute and there seems to be a lot of dispute about Jesus, including multiple religions. Anyways, I do believe this book is fiction, but not fiction in terms that everything is made up. There are many books and people who believe in the Illuminati and that many of the things that we take for granted today as "facts" were actually misrepresentations and manipulations by powerful people and / or organizations. Take politics today and try to imagine how many things are being misrepresented to us today. Most of us are not "powerful" enough to actually know the truth about most things that happen. So do I believe in Jesus, yes, would it blow my mind if there was some scandal that covered up who he was because it would alter the Catholic Church and their need for dominance, no.

The Da Vinci Code is fiction through and through. Dan Brown's statement that the Priory is real was based iupon frraudulent papers manufactured by a trickster. Opus Dei is not a menacing cult creating albino psycho murderers and to the best of my knowlege religious symbology is not its own profession.

It is fiction. The author, Dan Brown, says it's fiction, he doesn't even try to claim it really happened.
It's just that he lists several sources in the front of the book that he claims DID exist and why they existed.
I saw a show on the Discovery channel that blew that all right out of the water. His information was all screwed up.
After that aired, I haven't heard as much buzz about the book.
Yes, Jesus was a man. He is recorded not only in the Bible, but also referred to in other ancient Hebrew texts.
