I see many trying to pick evolution apart by saying, "well where did everything come from?" They say we had to have a maker, so there must be a god, because something can not come from nothing. Well, when asked where that God came from, they say he is eternal. If something (god) can be eternal, that means that this thing would need no maker. So then things can be eternal. If so, then why do monkeys need a maker? Why could man have come from bacteria, and those bacteria be eternal? If god can be eternal, then that is saying it is possible for things to not have a creator, and if you believe that is possible, then why could man not be eternal. Same logic. Why could the universe not be eternal? Before you tell me I am going to hell, and quote the bible, just answer this. This is a question, not an attack. This is answers, so answer just my question.

The entire thing is a question. Over all, if god can be eternal and need no maker, why can't we.

Why can the universe not be eternal? Why did everything but god need a maker. That is poor logic.

Why does the univers have to be bound by science if god does not?

The logic used against evolution can be applied to the universe to disprove god.

Ok, maybe there are no eternal bacteria, but what about the universe and existance? Could the universe be eternal, with no maker?

My child, I can see that you are filled with the spirit of Common Sense! Study hard, think long, and with this spirit ye shall find real actual explanations for almost everything! Others have come before ye, and done much work, and yielded the wheel, and aspirin, and the Space Shuttle, yea, and all without need of the Great Supernatural Bogeyman in the Sky! Shouldst thou choose the path of Common Sense, and go on thinking as thee do, you shall in time contribute to the Evil Body of True Knowledge which seeketh only to make Man happy by being nice & Understanding things, instead of the Way of The Many, who offereth up their children to the lord with cancer, for it is his will.
Sense & Happiness be with you! Go Forth & Think non-Doctrinal Thoughts!

alright....
I'll let the cat out of the bag.
One of my favorite philosophers was the late Alan Watts.
He had a cute little story he would relate: If a man were to walk around the streets of just about any western city, proclaiming that " I am God ! I am God and I created all of this" It wouldn't be long before he would find himself under some kind of restraint.
But if a man were to do the same thing in many far eastern cities, the response would be " wonderful! how nice you finally found out"
It has become the tendency for people of faith in western lands to differentiate between the creator and its creation, to actually separate the two.
Could you possibly consider that they are one and the same?
Hint: even in the Christian bible there is a clue. Read Luke 17:20
(now I know you'll never get up and go read it so I'll cut and paste it here.....)
20 Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, 21nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within[a] you."

I can't judge you based on your question, i understand you're just curious. I've pondered many times trying to figure this whole thing out, how God came onto the scene before the earth was formed and all that is in it.........I know, it's unexplainable, but maybe that's the beauty of it. We're not supposed to have an answer for everything nor are we supposed to understand it all. That's why He is God and we are not. We are human and by faith we need to believe that God really does exist and that he is who he says he is. I have been a christian all my life and I've got many questions still unanswered, but I DO KNOW that the power of God is AWESOME for those who just believe in what can not be seen or explained.

I guess theists and atheists do have something in common. Neither one of us can really answer how the begining of it all started, we both have faith that there was something that started the universe. How that something/God came about, none of us know as a fact. I think one thing we need to accept is that some people are going to have faith that God created it all and others are going to have faith that some kind of particle or gas started it all. How did any of those come about in the first place.... remains to be unanswered, at least in this life.
I'm sticking with God though I believe it has done me good and hasn't hurt me.

The Bible tells us that God is eternal, think about it like this, imagine space for a moment, does space have an end? Obviously not, and of there was then we would strain our mind to imagine what would be behind a wall that said "the end". this same idea applies to God. But the Bible also informs us that Time is a dimension God himself has created into which man was subjected. God himself dwels outside that dimension of time. in fact, God can flip thru history like you and I can flip through a Novel. we can see the evidence that we live in the dimension of time. when we look at death, and how the things living on the earth are born and die. the cycle goes for many components in nature.
The most important part of Gods word is the mention of Judgement day and righteousness and ultimate Justice when our time ends here and we stand before God. The Bible says that no sin is hidden from God, there is no thought or word he hasnt heard. the Ten Commandments will be Gods standard, so lets look at a few to see how you will do on Judgement day.
Have you ever lied (even once--fibs, white lies, etc.)? Ever stolen (anything--the value is irrelevant)? Jesus said, "Whoever looks upon a woman to lust after her, has committed adultery already with her in his heart." Have you ever looked with lust? If you have said "Yes" to these three questions, by your own admission, you are a lying, thieving, adulterer at heart; and we’ve only looked at three of the Ten Commandments.
What a shock! Will you be innocent or guilty on the Day of Judgment? Listen to your conscience. You know that you will be guilty, and the Bible ays if God judges you acording to your sin you could end up in Hell. That’s not God’s will. He provided a way for you and I to be forgiven.
He sent His Son to take our punishment: "God commended His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." He was bruised for our iniquities. Jesus then rose from the dead and defeated death.
Your own so-called “goodness” can’t get you into heaven any more than mine could. Jesus is the only way to Heaven. He is the "Door," the only "mediator." There is salvation in no other name, so pray something like this: "Dear God, I repent of all of my sins (confess them). This day I put my trust in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Please forgive me and grant me your gift of everlasting life. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen."

i agree with alot of what you say, ur analagy isnt quiet how i would put it, but i neither run with evolution nor god theory, its down to the unexplainable, everyone thinks that there has to be an explanaton for everything and if there isnt one then one will be given,.... i am alive i see what i see, i know what i know, and i have no intention of driving myself insane trying to answer questions that we will never have proof of, so im gonna carry on like i have living my merry little life bothering no-one, and not worrying about incurring the wrath of god or any other supposed creator, and im definatly not bothered about a re-run of dinosaurs either lol and just incase ill get out the bleach incase that bacteria sneaks out lol

In our human existence we yearn for answers and signs and the only answer we need is we are loved by God. God is love. He created us to love him and serve him and be with him forever in the eternal kingdom of peace, where justice and truth are for all and all of us, His children live in harmony with each other. If you understand that you are loved by God you can endure all things. Our life on this earth is our journey and those who are spiritually mature gain wisdom and yearn for holiness, as God is holy, so that we can arrive at our eternal home pure and clothed with the light of love. Peace and serenity on your earthly journey brother.

God didnt have a beginning, but he created everything else. Its hard to comprehend how God could be living forever, it hurts my brain, so I guess we will never know how he can live forever. We live in 2006, if man had lived eternally we wouldnt even have dates and times dont you think?
