This may sound crazy but i think Mexico legalizing marijuana. would be one the smartest moves they could make. it would increase tourism and if they did it right they would have a big leg up on Americans when eventually its legalized here to turn it into a lucrative business of exporting to the US. Now i know some of you may think this is a silly idea but Canada has legalized it in many areas of their country and is pretty close to a nationwide legalization and if Mexico were to follow the same path America would be sandwiched between to countries with legalization . I don't think it would be very much longer before the US followed suit .

I think so. There is a lot of money to be made in that trade while it is illegal. And the people who make the money deal in other drugs that are much worse for society. If pot were legal, as it is in Amsterdam, and nearly is in many other places in Europe, it would take one level of seller out of the picture.
As for harder drugs - well, you didn't ask, but you have to hear it anyway - they should be freely available from the government - and the line of addicts would snake down the street. That would take away the glamour factor.
We need to remember that although a drug may be addictive, it is people's perception of that drug that sells it in the first place. Think of cigarettes.l

Yes.
Why they dont legalize it....Because the authorities involved are the ones who doesn't want to legalize it, beause they can get something out of it.
And also, because their country(who doesn't want to legalize it) doesn't rely much on it in terms of production.
Come to think of the liquors, other medcations should also be banned if they ban marijuana, all of these items only costs bad effects when abused.
And how about - all hospitals have "banned" drugs too for medical purposes...
When it is legalized, people will not hide, market flow won't be constrained- it won't be expensive anymore. Curiousity will be gone. People will be educated accordingly, and the item will be regulated.
And countries who's farms grow on mary jane mostly won't suffer too much.

Some yes, and it would also provide tax money to the government on the sale. But here is the problem. If you look at the countries where it is leagal, similar to the problems with alcohol in this country those countries are spending tons of money on treatment centers for adicts.

No weed is not that additive billions are not spent to get you off of it, that really applies to the more harder drugs like crack-coke,etc,etc. When they bust people with drugs they also get to confiscate the homes, cars, guns, or whatever ,there is a lot of money made to be made off of huge amounts of weed' small amounts are not really of interest not a person with joint or is it 3 grams or less really considered that important or dangerous. It's your harder drugs that never will be legal they will in the end cost us billions. It cost thousands of dollars to clean up a site where meth has been made. Weed is a drug but it's not as great as the harder drugs are as costly..

Yes it would, it would also reduce the number of deaths involved in that particular drug trade. No one else would be compelled to use it. In fact I think less people would use it because the taboo would be gone. Unfortunately, the reason they won't legalize is because the government has nothing to gain from it.
