The most popular religions of the Western World are:
1. Christianity
2. Islam
3. Judaism
4. Buddhism
5. Hinduism
Once you understand these, you can understand the varieties of each religion:
Christianity has the following divisions: Catholic, Orthodox, Protestantism (Lutheran, Anglican, Presbyterian, Baptist...).
Islam can be divided into Sunnism and Shiism.
Judaism has conservative (Hassidic) and less-conservative (Reformed)
Buddhism has the Zen variety.
Hinduism is poly-theistic...
Actually, Jainism is one branch of Hinduism. Gandhi and a friend of mine are Jain.
And there is another religion that is like Hinduism and Islam called
Sikhism. You should do a google search or ask search to find out more!

I am an eclectic Pagan, which means that I am Pagan and I draw on several religious/spiritual systems for my personal spiritual beliefs and practices. Those systems include Buddhism, Wicca, Native American spirituality (Shamanism), and Celtic Spirituality. I also have some beliefs that don't really come from any religion in particular, but are scientifically based, or I have read about them in miscellaneous books.

Religions are excercises in Spirituality. Just like pushups, lifting weights, playing basketball, etc., are bodily excercises.
Worth noting, just like bodily excercises... too much can be just as unhealthy as none at all.
