If you want your child to clam down try a few of these things. Have a daily schedule for everything. Have a meal routine. Cut out all caffeine and almost all sugar and eat healthy foods in general at all times. Make sure the child is getting enough sleep/not too much. Restrict TV time and encourage lots of outdoor play and exercise.
These things will help. You will notice a huge difference in your child. I have an overactive 6 yr old and I don't believe in the drugging of small children.
It's a rough road but be patient and understanding.

I read the same report as one of your earlier answers...ADHD is a chemical imbalance...and for some reason, natural stimulants seem to have a calming effect on someone with this affliction...the exact opposite of what one might expect. I applaud you for seeking a more natural remedy...as I fear we are becoming more and more dependent on additional chemical substances that sometimes create additional problems not manifest before taking it....and then it often becomes a matter of "Which is the lesser of the evils?" A tricky question with no real answer.

Actually i read an article a couple of months ago because my son has adhd, that if you give them a cup of coffee in the morning every morning, it helps calm them and keep them calm during the day, I'm not sure how you feel about giving your child coffee but it did seem to help my son.

The best natural supplement is playing outside. There is no such thing as ADHD. Kids are kids. Discipline them and let them work out their energy by playing outside.

talk to a doctor before even trying something homeopathic or herbal...children can have an opposite reaction to substances that would make an adult sedated or calm (they can get jittery and hyper). Plus, if they are alredy on any prescription medications, there's a risk of interaction. Ask the doc, see if there's anything safe that they can recommend.

Is you child really hyper or just need to get his or her energy out? letting them move around and play will work alot of that out.
Cut out sugar but even more important cut out artificial coloring. That stuff is like speed that sends borderline kids over the edge.
1/4 to 1/2 cup (not mug) of coffee with milk and sugar (or substitutes) works more naturally (if brewed NOT INSTANT), more effectively and more safely than ritalin or other meds.
Keep instructions short and wait until each task is done before telling him to do the next.
Don't lecture. They can't handle it.
Use whatever herb teas you would ie chamomile, mint, etc.

There is nothing to help with ADHD because it is a made up disease. Drug companies created along with a number of other illness' to ensure a large profit.

Go to your local vitamin store like GNC. They have something there for ADHD and it is natural.

i'm really not sure, but i think it's wonderful you're using a natural alternative. most prescriptions for add/adhd are horrible and should not be used in children.
