is it true that 80% of cops get divorced and if so Y? Is it because they r out on the job more than home or what? My hubby is a cop and I stand 100% behind him, I knew he wanted to be a cop before we even started dating!

I don't know the precentage, but it is high from what I hear. Good for you for standing behind your husband. It is a tough job and being the wife of a police officer is tough because it is hard on you also. I won't go into the reasons why as I am sure you know them all to well. Good luck to both you and him and may nothing ever come up to split the both of you up.

Many cops, and I'm not saying your husband is one of them, but many cops become cops because they got a chip on their shoulder.
Usually they got some kind of emotional baggage from high school or their bizaar childhood or something which makes them want to be able to have some sort of power over other people.
So they become cops so they can threaten and intimidate other civilians because at the heart, all the cops are a little cowardly, which is why they want a job where they get a gun and get to take out the trash so bad and scary people wont scare them any more.

You can imagine how exhausting it would be to live with this person for years. I imagine that the cracks in the average police officer's character begin to show after a few years, and then the marriages fall apart. Let's face it, people who become cops are generally in it because they're not friendly with other people. They hate the abuse that they've grown up on, and they probably can't hold a relationship.

If your husband isn't like this, then your chances are probably 50% like every other marriage in this loveless land.

im not sure if its true but i think that most relationships dont work out because cops have weird hours and get called to work alot and the jobalone is dangerous and some people dont want their spouse to be put in danger so other than trying to work it out many marriages fall apart, and then of course the reputation of being married to a cop can cause problems for some people by people not fond of police

It's because Cops have a high stress rate. Cops have to learn to keep the stress at the job and not bring it home. That is impossible if you ask me if you see a little girl die and you cant find the killer how would you react? Exactly!

80% may be a little high, but it is higher than the national average. Most women can't take knowing that every time their husband goes to work, he may not return. And many cops see the worst of humanity, and bring that crap home with them. They can't leave it at work.

So God bless you for standing so strongly behind your man, and to him for doing a job that's so necessary. Good luck.
