I attend college at a community college and I'm currently taking summer classes. Often, I like to grab some lunch at the college's cafetera. Problem is it is only open from 7am-1pm M-F. And, this college offers late afternoon classes and night classes that can go to 10:00pm at night. The college offers classes for two months. I like to do some work before my class begins in the libary and it annoys me when I have to rush in order to grab lunch. Yesterday, I went there and ordered a sandwich with no tomatoes or olives. However, I asked for everything else they offer for their sandwiches. Like usually have peppercinis, jaleponos, green or red peppers. These are vegetables they usually offer you on sandwiches during the fall and spring semesters. When I asked for everything else except tomatos and olives. They only had lettuce, and pickles to give out on my sandwich. I could not eat it all because the bread tasted stale.

I relaize that they are short of employees because of limited students during the summer. However, shouldn't this college have enough food to give out? They do not even offer the salad bar during the summer time. Is this unacceptable?

I also cannot bring lunch because I take public transportation and there is no food or drinks allowed on the buses.

It is frustrating when there are students on campus late and the cafeteria is closed. The college is probably trying to cut down on "unnecessary" expenses by cutting staff and "overhead" by cutting the food. (probably to prevent waste).
Do you carry a book bag? (like a nap sack?)Would it be possible to put your lunch in the book bag or a nap sack? You could put in a PB&J sandwich and some other stuff like celery sticks or carrot sticks and maybe some cookies. Then, you could buy the drinks at the cafeteria. I know you mentioned not carry food on the buses. Are the napsacks searched? If not, maybe you could put in a paper sack lunch?
just a suggestion.
Other than finding a place close to campus to eat, that's the best I can come up with for you.

When a bus company says "No Food Or Drinks" they mean they do not want open food and drink containers on the bus. If you phone the bus company to verify, I am sure you will find that many people carry their lunches with them every day and so may you. You just may not have open food containers.
You are obviously not going to solve the problem that the cafeteria is having with its service and selection so you might as well take charge of what you can control. The solution is to pack your lunch in a small lunch thermos bag (the kind children take to school). You can even buy tiny freezer packs that you freeze the night before and put in your lunch bag when you finalize it in the morning.
Bon appetit!

Why don't you put a suggestion in the suggestion box or better yet, speak to the head of the cafeteria voicing your concerns? Maybe they could solve this problem for you and, most likely others in your same boat. At the very least they could have vending machines with sandwiches and fruit in them. Good luck and wishing you well with your studies.

Gee, that's not good. At least our community college has beverage, snack, and sandwich machines for when the cafeteria is closed. Maybe you should put a suggestion in the suggestion box at school.

If it annoys you so much, then go somewhere else or bring lunch from home. Griping like you do only makes you seem spoiled. Most colleges are the same way.

You can take lunch with you...just pack it in one of those insulated lunch bags/boxes. As long as you don't open it and eat it on the bus/train, it'll be OK. I take the train to work, and even though no food/drink is allowed, someone's always eating or drinking something. (Including me with my a.m. coffee!) :)

It's. In my college, people working in Cafeteria are not students but actually people appointed by university itself, so it won't make a problem for me. Good luck for you anyway.
