Windows Media Player problem?

For some reason it has started playing the movie files as very dark. I can manually adjust the color but it still isn't quite right and it resets itself as soon as the file is over. What could be the problem here?

Also, video files are too dark if I play in other players, such as Real Player. Other than the video files, everything else looks just fine.

are you sure that your monitor or video card is not going bad?
