I would tell him to meet you some where, maybe the mall? and take a friend with you. Tell him what you'll be wearing, colors and such. Instead wear something totally different and check him out before you actually approach him, just to be sure he seems to be who he says he is online.
And be very careful.

I Am In The Same Boat , As You Said Stick To Public Places,
See How You Feel When You Have Met,
Don't Take A Lift Home With Him, Just Be Sensible,
If You Like Each Other Arrange Another Date,
You Will Know When Something Is Right.Or Wrong And If You Feel Uneasy About Anything, Go Home.
You Could Also Arrange To Meet A Friend Say An Hour Or So After Your Date, So The First Date Keep Short,
Or Arrange To txt One Of Your Friends Ever Half Hour, Just So They Know You Are Ok .
Also Tell Your friends Where You Are Going,
Name Of Your Date Etc,
And Good Luck,
Keep Smiling.
Enjoy Yourself.

Get his picture. Call his house not cell to verify the number. Call his office to verify where he works or have him send you and email from his work account, if he has one. Bring a friend when you meet him, the friend can leave after 15 mines. Ask to see his ID. Make the first meeting no longer than an hour. Don't call him for 5 days and see if he gets angry at you.

Take a sharp samurai sword with you!
Seriously - My best advise would be to meet on webcam first. Then if you do meet up make sure you have plenty of friends around and never stay alone with him - always be in a public place.

I met my husband over the net. I always followed my gut on this one. If a guy did the slightest thing to creep me out, it was over. Meet for lunch or supper in a neighboring town and see what happens. Just never, ever give him an opportunity to be alone until you know him better.

With my experience with internet dating/meeting people you should just meet for drinks or coffee. I have found way to many people who are totally different in person then the seemedonline/on the phone. One actually turned out to be a stalker, looking for a wife right now. so just meet for coffee and if that turns into dinner great. but if you want to get out of there you can.

Don't do it.
Take a friend along close enough to give a signal
Go to a highly visible spot.
Don't leave with him
Have a friend call you after 5 minutes into the meeting

Meet him in a public place and see what happens. Sometimes what seems like a connection loses its luster once your face to face. If he is a troll, chalk it up to a nice lunch and a new friend.

I would be careful. people are not always as they seem. I could tell you any thing online and you would never know if I am lying. public place would be the best place to meet.

Be careful hon; they are all liars on the net. If you really want to meet him, take a friend with you (dont tell him you are going to do this) and see what his reaction is, but do NOT be alone with him anywhere quiet. Very good luck.
