atheists don't believe in god. Why do they find it so horrible and unbelievable? I for one can't understand how can CAN believe in god but I respect your choice. You believe and I don't. Anyways, I don't care if you want to choose to believe in god but why can't I be left alone about my choice? Remember all people all you can is speak for youreself. No christian can speak for all christains, just like no atheist can speak for all athiests. And remeber I say most, I do not say all.

A part of it is their faith requires them to minister and "save" people, if possible. They just get all zealous about it and don't take no thanks for an answer.

I would like to know what kind of God that you don't believe in. If it is a god that many Christians portray that is quick to judge, slow to forgive, one who tells you to forgive and love your enemies but hates his, or a god that plans on burning people for an eternity because someone with a Bible couldn't prove to them that he is real, well then I guess I'd be an atheist too.

Listen, I believe that there is a God, Divine creator, supreme intelligence or what ever you want to call it. I think that if you really want to know for your self God will let you know that he is there. I'm sorry you have ran into people who don't respect you for your beliefs. Try being a christian who rocks the boat for a spell. If God wants you to know him he will seek you out. Some of us out here love you just the way you are. God Bless you.

I personally don't think that you are a horrible person or think that it is unbelievable that you don't believe God, many people don't. Many religions, including mine, send out missionaries to spread and share the gospel to 1: those who have not yet recieved it, and 2: to those who have but were not yet ready to recieve it. Missionaries should not be rude or pushy and force their religion on you, nor should anyone else for that matter. Then again there is nothing wrong with expressing your beliefs whether christian or not. If someone is talking to you about religion and you do not wish to discuss it they should have the respect to stop and let you be.

If a person does not believe in God and wishes to be "left alone"...that's fine. I don't want to bother anyone.

Many atheists come into "Yahoo Questions/Answers" and ask questions. So...if I see a question I know an answer to (based on the bible, if they are asking about God, or Jesus, etc.), I'm happy to answer it. No one has to believe me.

I've no interest in harrassing anyone about what they believe...and I sincerely mean that.

It is okay that you do not believe in God. You cannot see God and that is okay. I cannot see God, but I can see things that I cannot explain, things that make me question. Those who see God or say they see God, I kind of wonder if they actually do? I have always been told that God cannot been seen therefore, God is not male of female or anything that we see. God is a being, a force, God has no name, God is an it.

Hello,
You yourself say, "No Christian can speak for all Christians, just like no atheist can speak for all atheists. And remember I say most, I do not say all." With that in mind I will give you my opinion.
Generally speaking it is the goal of most religions to convert all other people to their religion.
Since it is Christianity I know about, I will speak to that religion.
Firstly, in order to explain my answer I must explain what they believe. Since it is what they believe that compels them to share this knowledge with others. I understand that as an Atheist you don't believe any of this, so I will try to keep it brief.

The Bible teaches that God wants to have a relationship with people, and that he would like all people to go to Heaven when they die. But since everybody breaks Gods established Law, no one is permitted to go to heaven. Now God changed all that when sent his Son Jesus (who happened to go through life without ever doing anything wrong, according to Gods laws) to die on the cross to as payment to purchase the life of every person who has ever done anything wrong. So God has made it possible for everybody to go to Heaven should he or she so chose to have a relationship with Him. The Bible also teaches that anybody who does not desire a relationship with God will go to a place of pain and suffering when they die.
So this brings me to my point, in answer to your question... If Christians are trying to convince you that God exists, it is only out of concern for you. Their beliefs teach that you will go to the place of pain and suffering, and Christians don't want that for you.
I hope this answers your question. Thank you for allowing me to share this with you.

Well, many could argue that your question shows that you can't accept that they believe in God. So perhaps ask yourself this question, but switch atheist and christian around.

That's why it's call freewill.
It's an individual choice.
As a Christian Pastor I may not agree with your choice but I still defend it. I must, if I don't then there is no free will.

They like you for some reasons which I could care less. They want to convert you because they think you are good person and there has to be some godly characteristics in you which I don't see therefore they are wasting time with you! I will not! Moving on............
